Need Help! Avic-d3/ fjammer related

Please help. I inserted a labeled cd in my fjammer and the cd part is screwed up now. I don't listen to ipods. I actually like the sound of creative zen better. I also have a bunch of files on my blackberry. My question is can I still play these items through my aux input located by the dash controls that I now use with my fjammer. Can I also use my original steering controls with this unit as well. Oh yeah one more question. I am horrible with instillation but I can get it installed for free. After instillation can I then have someone rewire it so that it can work while driving. How hard would that be? Thank you very much

OK, so I take it you are going to install the avic-d3. I am not sure about using the pre-existing aux input (maybe others can help), but with the steering controls they can be reused using the pioneer SWI-PS module. As far as bypassing it, its a cinch. After installing you just pull it out, move a wire, ground it, voila! Head over to avic411.com for more details. But good choice on the D3, I have enjoyed mine ever since I got it last year.

Re: Need Help! Avic-d3/ fjammer related

Thanks alot Kap. I bought the unit already and circuit city is doing he free install. My problem now is I dont know where to buy the swips kit and other things such as bluetooth, back-up cam and mp3 integration(creative vision w). CC doesnt have any of the extras at all. The installer told me to get everything first then bring it in for the install. Where do I buy everythng from?

Get everything here:

FJ Cruiser Audio

They are here on the forum, have good prices, and will help you out with questions. They also have all of the extra pieces, and will pre-program the steering wheel remote unit for you. I have my whole system showing up from them tomorrow, ready for a busy weekend installing it all.

Wow. You all are great. I have another question tho. Sorry . When I purchased my unit from circuit city I also purchased the 4yr warranty for 279.00. What do you all do? Do you purchase additional warranties or is it not worth the money? I mean I can do alot with that 279.00 saved. Also, I was wandering if I were to figure out how to do the ebrake bypass after it is installed would I be voiding the warranty? I wouldnt want to spend an extra 279 for something I will probably void soon after. Thanks again

Everyone will have their preference, however I never get the extended warranty. First off, I dont trust others working on my cars so I always do my own installs - even if I need to learn about it like my upcoming TRD supercharger next week. In my case, if something breaks and its out of warranty, I usually want something better anyway. So that works as a good excuse for the wife so I can justify getting the next better one. I know she is on to me though.

Hey buddy, um as far as voiding the warranty, I think I bought one with mine (forget) but if it craps out on me I am just going to bring in the head unit w/o the harness. Without that they cannot really tell if it has been bypassed, but its up to you bud. But like powerfj said, if this thing breaks on me, I will probably be putting a carpc in its place. I am a sucker to the option of buying new replacements.

Re: Need Help! Avic-d3/ fjammer related

Personally I wouldn't get the warranty, that's almost half the price of the D3. Like you said, you can do a lot more with that $279 saved.

Re: Need Help! Avic-d3/ fjammer related

Thanks for all of your help guys. Because of you and the help from other members on this forum I was able to get a sweet deal, saved money by not buying the warranty and had a great experience getting the unit installed. In short, I took a trip over to FJ AUDIO a forum vendor, purchased the avic d3 there and had them do the clean install. They did one hell of a job. I attempted to get the D3 installed elsewhere before but the installers did not know how to get everything to work correctly for the FJ, (i.e steering wheel controls). FJ Audio certainly knew what they were doing and in quick, not rushed fashion. If anyone happens to be in southern california you should check them out. Thanks again guys for your responses on this thread and helpin me out.
