I know a few people here have the Avic-D3 installed in their FJ's. I was thinking about doing the same, now that Pioneer is offering a $200 rebate till the end of March. Can anyone post some pics of what the Avic-D3 looks like installed in their FJ. I'm interested in what the ipod interface looks like. And any of your thoughts about this unit.
You can get a killer deal on a D3 with that $200 rebate even if you have to get it from an authorized dealer. Here's a youtube video of the D3's iPod integration. It works flawless IMO and of course charges your iPod too.
This unit has been flawless and works like a charm. I have a Diamond Black FJ and the unit installed in my car looks factory, right down to the glossy black plastic. My only hesitation was with the single slot disc player, but since I hooked up the ipod, I don't think I have ever taken out the navi disc except to change the background pics. I really like the analog-like round volume knob for the unit, kind retro but very functional sorta like the FJC itself. Integration with the ipod is pretty good. This is the first ipod/car system I have owned so no way to compare to others, but same pluses and minuses apply for the D3 controls that apply to the ipod itself. Video is good. I've never played DVDs but ipod videos look very good. Video control being only via ipod is a pain but I'm usually just listening to music. Backup camera is a huge benefit especially in this car and navi is not the best, but more than adequate if you get lost or need to see a map.

Might want to warn him on the charging. Turn it off when you want to listen to good music, as when the iPod is charging it will create a very annoying "buzz" interference noise if you turn it up. Quite obvious if you turn on the charge feature, then just turn your speakers all the way up w\o playing any music.

I don't get any buzzing while my ipod is charging.

Then either your deaf, or extremly lucky. This is a problem that everyone who owns the D3 encounters and one of the most talked about issues on Avic411.com. Do this, turn on your iPod charge, go to iPod, pause the song on your d3, and turn your speakers all the way up, if you can't hear that buzzing noise, then you are either A. Deaf, or B. Old, or C. Don't notice high frequency sounds.

Wow, there's a forum for most everything nowadays.

Don't have to be so pissy about it just because you have the noise and neither he nor I have it.
