Fuses blowing?

I have a PDX 1000.1 powering TWO mtx 5500's at 2 ohms. When I turn it up real loud, all four fuses on the amp blow, I can't figure out why the gains are half way down and were tuned by a professional, and it ONLY happens when I turn it up, eve if it's at -4 on the D3 and I turn it up loud on say bassotronics - bass I love you, it'll pop...any help?

Re: Fuses blowing?

too small of a fuse? what style fuse are you using? if you are using a AGU style (glass fuse) it may be rated at a higher amperage, but there really isnt enough material there in that style fuse to handle it well. the material heats up since there isnt enough and blows. i would switch the a ANL style fuse if this is the case. if your fuse is indeed large enough, then you have an install problem. retrace every bit of wire. but i think the fuse size is wrong.

Re: Fuses blowing?

25 ANL, the exact fuse it recommends. Apparently today I found out that the subwoofers that they sold me even though they say 2 ohm, are actually putting out 1.2 ohms when they tested them...that is more than likely the cause of it. Also found out that the reason my amplifier was making all those weird popping noises, was because I have a BAD 4.100 PDX, if you unplug the RCAS and put your finger up to the input on the amp, hissing sounds start coming out of all speakers, on the mono and my other amps nothing comes out....lovely.
