Anyone added Homelink?

Just curious if any of you guys have added the Homelink modules that come out of sun visors. If so, where did you put it? I was thinking about a Swiss's overhead console.

Re: Anyone added Homelink?

I'm probably going to go with Swiss's console and put homelink up in there. I would use my driver's side ac vent but I already have a lot of switches and crap in there. The overhead console is a nice idea but I don't really want to cut into the headliner and try mounting it in there.

Re: Anyone added Homelink?

I just added an overhead console from a suburban with homelink, and soon a CB radio. I followed Discodan and Dvan's thread. If you search Console you will see hte post form discodan.

The mirror was an idea that I thought about for quite a while but I have no reason for a dimming mirror because I'm higher up than 95% of vehicles on the road. I'm trying to find something reasonable on eBay. Hopefully I'll luck up.

If you want to get creative with it, you can wire the garage opener that you alredy have to any swicht in the FJ, (maybe the high beams), and you will be able to do it for close to nothing, in the past we use to get the remote an use a momentary swicht to trigger it .Do you have an after market alarm? If you do, you can use the extra channel to open the garage. let me know if you want to do this.

I am also going with Swiss's Console to install a Homelink. I bought the closed face console so I can mount the Homelink module on the inside with the buttons facing toward the rear vs coming out the bottom of the console. Two problems I've found. Only modules in mirrors vs sunvisors have the buttons on the end of the module. Modules used in sunvisors have the buttons on the side and can't be mounted so the buttons come out the end of the console. The other problem is finding round buttons. So far the only ones I can find are oval or square buttons in mirrors. The problem with those is that it is difficult to find an oval or square drill bit to cut the openings in the consule.

I've purchased a couple of used mirrors off of E-Bay. If I can get one of their modules to work I will post a pic.

If u or anyone else has any ideas please pass them on.
