I didn't get the optional sub, and now I want more from my stereo without ditching the FJammer and starting over. Any suggestions as to what to do. Add an amp and sub? Who else has done this and how did it work for ya?
I just want to add to the factory stereo so I can get better sound, higher volume, better bass, and not risk blowing the exsisting speakers. Maybe it's just a pipe dream and can't be done, but I'd like to hear what the hive mind has to say about it.
TIA.
i would start by replacing all of the speakers. front with a set of componets (mid in door, tweet in factory dash location) and a rear set of coaxial in a pod. forget about the factory rears. get an amplifier for them. and to use the factory deck you are going to need a line output converter.
from there you can add on a woofer and bass amp.
i would highly recommend going that route. it will cost a little more, but once you take that first step in the right direction, you wont have to spend more money making it right in the long run.
Also get some Dynamat or similar product. We used dynamat in the doors when we replaced the front speakers, it's helped out quite a bit. We didn't add an amp, but upgraded the speakers & the sound is much clearer, but not much louder.

Sounds like you don't have the 9 speaker factory setup with the sub so I would say install a sub woofer and that would cover the bass end. I have the 9 speaker system and I'm happy with it.
All the advice to replace speakers and so forth is a waste of money. Remember replacing speakers also means adding costly spacers. The FJammer is simply under powered. The OE speakers are good quality and fine for 90% of stereophiles. Amplifying the unit will be the best place to start. The clarity and volume will be vastly improved.

I like realy loud music, and the fjammer and 9 speaker setup has worked great for me. I did put in 2 12"kicker cvr subs, but they took u wayy to much space. So I had a local shop build me a very narrow wedge for one, that sits in the back. I had to modify it a little because it was not deep enough. I still have my same amp, so I definitely get enough bass out of it. I will post pics if I can remember
Magnet has little to do with it. Consider high end Bose speakers for example... tiny. The FJammer radio is simply under powered. Amplify what you have first then go from there. You'll thank me later for saving you wasted money and time on new speakers.
