Re: V I P E R Alarms???????

you dont have to listen to me. but i have a lot of experience with aftermarket products. i have a viper 5900 on my FJ. hate it.

i wont ever buy DEI products because i am tired of broken remotes and the remote for the higher end vipers suck anyway.

look into compustar if you really want a good alarm.

Re: V I P E R Alarms???????

I have viper too and I hate it. Mine came with a motion sensor that was way to senstive, spent ours at the install shop multiple times, they could never get it programmed right so we finally just disconnected it. By the time we disconnected it my neighbors hated me, because the motion sensor set the alarm off with every breeze and dog bark...

Another time, I left my lights on and the batter went dead. As soon as I jumped my FJ off, the alarm went off and would not turn off. I seriously tried everything, and eventually ended up driving to the shop with the alarm on. They looked at it ALL day, couldn't figure out what was wong with it after pretty much re-doing the install twice, then for some reason all of a sudden everything started working again.

Another huge negative is the price of the clicker. A replacement clicker is 75 bucks...and they aren't built to last more than a year and a half...mine doesn't show anything on the screen anymore and is falling apart but I refuse to replace it...

The one thing I do like is my alarm is so senstive and loud I don't think anyone could ever rob me...it is also very customizable...I live in a bad areaa, so I have mine set to automatically arm and lock 40 secs after I close the driver door...there are all kidns of programmable settings...so I guess it works...but the headache I've gone through and the multiple times at the shop have made it suck...who knows maybe its not viper, maybe its the guys at best buy who installed it, but thats another story...

Re: V I P E R Alarms???????

I have a 5900 Viper and love it, no problems. If you're motion sensor is going off then thats a incompetent installer problem. There are so many vehicles in Atlanta parked that i just press the gas and their alarms go off due to their stupid motion\proximity sensors. I've had my alarm for I believe six months or so, my other case got scratched up so I switched out my Viper case with a black Python case so now it's back to brand new.

Also Hakim, did your "installers" not install a bypass button? Oh wait nevermind, I just read that you got it installed at Bestbuy, that pretty much explains it all.

A word of advice 2cute4u, make sure you get a good installer. The security system will only work as good as it's programmed\installed, if the installer hardly knew what he is doing then more than likely many features are messed up.

if my lights are on and i remote start it and the alarm kills the car, the lights remain on. i hate that the FJ doesnt have auto lights... my replacement remotes are $119

i know a few best buy installers in arizona that are awesome. one of them teaches at mobile dynamics, the most respected 12v school out there. the guy knows his stuff, and can lay down some serious skill on an install. i was going to ask him to do mine, but best buy is weird about that. i didnt have time to do it and warranty wise, it didnt make sense to. i had mine done by soundwerks in scottsdale, one of the top shops in AZ.

and when it comes to electronics, or anything for that matter, you have the hardest head. you simply dont get it, so disregard this dudes comments.

Disregard? Might I salute you the . I believe you have even said MANY times that Best Buy and Circuit City's installers are generallly CRAP, want me to hot link you? I have a Viper, no problems what so ever, and it is a VERY common security system, DEI is actually THE MOST well known after market car security system maker out there. What don't I get about the Viper alarm? I have one, and every little feature works, and my remote works too, is there a problem I'm missing here?

Also, I love how you are now saying someone else installed your alarm on your FJ...I seem to recall you saying that you installed it.

This is about as annoying as your comment on how magically your "Zapco Line Driver" (which is exactly what it is it DRIVES it to a balanced\stronger signal) isn't "gimmicky" (word for word) like mine. Whatever though, I'm done.
