Scangauge-II Install not working

Just bought a ScanGauge-II I'm unable to get it to communicate to with the cars computer. When I have it physically connected to the ODB port, the device just displays "CONNECTING" and then turns off. At the same time, a bunch of my dash lights come on.

I'm guessing my ScanGauge is DOA, but just in case I thought I would post a message here.

UPDATE: Just got off the phone with the great folks at Linear Logic, and they are sending out a new unit and a shipper so I can send them the broken one. They admitted that a bad batch of scan gauges that had a "bad crystal".

UPDATE 2: Got my replacement unit yesterday and it works just fine.

Re: Scangauge-II Install not working

uhh ohhh,

i just installed it on my titan today and i get flashing headlights and possesed turn signals as well as a higher idle and late tranny shifting.

i contacted scangauge so we'll see if the issue is user error (yeah right) or hardware issue (bad batch )

Plug it in then start the truck. it turns off automaticly if the trucks not running or if you are not activly pushing buttons.

Mine's messed up too. Worked for awhile about two months and now no longer connects. Tried everything, it gets power and just says "Connecting". Lame.

Assuming the ScanGauge II has a problem, Linear Logic warranties their products for 1 year - if you think it's bad, call them 888-433-5664.

Can you elaborate on what you mean by this? Wrong line?

I plan on calling Linear Logic tomorrow.

Re: Scangauge-II Install not working

I just sent a message and asked about it.. here's the response.. Ron

Ron,

The ScanGauge should work on the FJ Cruiser just fine. The different cable that is used is to address an issue with a small number of cars that use certain pins on the OBDII port that interfere with the operation of the ScanGauge and the vehicle. The typical symptom is the clock radio is reset when the ScanGauge is plugged in or if the speedometer fluctuates randomly with the ScanGauge plugged in. If you experience any of these problems, or anything odd while the ScanGauge is plugged in just let us know and we will get a modified cable out to you.

Guess I'll have to do that. My buddy has a Scanguage on his FJ and his works perfectly, so we tried plugging mine into his...just kept saying connecting. I ordered another one a week ago and it does the same thing, I believe Scanguage shipped out a bad batch...
