Re: did some system upgrades over the past few days

Kokopelli, I figured you was pullin my rope, But then again i don't know, Maybe I can get something larger from a locomotive or something...

Bob, although I really appreciate the compliments, I am just a pure amateur, and I had to learn as I went, am as I go. The sound deadener work is not fun, and I could not imagine gettin paid to do it. I do agree though , I don't wanna see the truck look to much different once I am done. I spent months trying to decide rather or not to cut those really big holes in the factory panels for the rear comps. That was a - no turning back now moment once that dremel tool started cutting. That and I didn't try to cram all of this into one day. I learned a long time ago that patience and knowledge go a long way with just about anything I try to do. I spent hours and hours that I will never get back looking all over the web for the best way , and the way to get the best results out of which products to buy, and how to put them in without ruining a 27,000.00 truck's interior.

I still wanna try and re install my little ramp that goes along the floor and up against the back of the back seat. Looks like cutting and drilling is my only option though

First off. Thanks for taking the time to stop and snap some shots. We all know in the heat of the moment.. the camera is the last thing on your mind.

Second - any idea how much weight total you applied to the truck? Just curious if you had a ball park figure.

Third - mounting the amps where you did I'm guessing you dont do a lot of hauling in the rear.. do you have plans to protect the equipment in the event you do need to throw a dresser or something back there in a pinch?

Keep up the good work. Thanks for the updates.

A few times I meant to take pics and got caught up, and forgot. Oops... Hmm. weight added. well, I think i would have to say 240 sq.ft. of dampilifier pro, probably around 100-125 lbs. another 30 lbs. of overkill pro, 45 lbs. of luxury liner, 8-10 lbs. of spectrum paint on deadener, and 15-20 lbs of insulation, and a few cans of spray foam. I 'd say somewhere in the neighborhood of 160-185 lbs. worth of sound deadening materials all together , And I still think I may get just a little bit more and do the underside of my hood. I would love to get all of my firewall covered , but I am not pulling my dash out, so I am told that getting the hood will make a noticeable improvement in engine noise reduction. I mean really, when I am cruising I don 't hardly hear my engine at all anymore, but when I first crank it and when I am on the gas gaining speed I can hear it. The radio now all but drowns that out - but - well I have gone this far, so why not see what happens with it?

No I don't carry nothing in the back of my FJ but a subwoofer box, that is all. My suitcases that I use for work go into the back seat on a black towel. And with the way the amps are now mounted , I can still fold the seats down, ( hence the long pos. and neg. wires ) but I can't quickly remove my amps and such to haul anything. I have plenty of friends who have everything from little toyota trucks to ford duallies, to MAC dumptrucks and heavy earth moving equipment, and I can borrow anything anytime I need it. My truck was purchased with the absolute intention of installing most of the products I have in there now. I drive it alot - by myself so I keep the wheel in one hand and the stereo remote or a cigarette in the other , with the volume at high levels. The sad part is, I don't think I am done yet. I may have located a source for a replacement High output alternator, and if that happens - as the money becomes available, there will be new batteries ( one up front, at least two in back ) and two new sundown 3000 watt sub amps , along with 2- 15" subs in a box that will utilize all of the space the cargo area has to offer.

The best part about all of this work, I can stop at a redlight, System cranked up, and if you have your windows up, you probably won't hear my stereo as I sit next to you waiting to go. I generally dont do that for feeling the need to hear sirens and such, but the second skin stuff, when you put that much in a vehicle can actually make it that quiet outside. The only rattle I have at all now , and it is on the outside , is that glossy black cover above the rear glass that the 3rd brake light is built into. Yes I pulled it off and put some deadener on the underside of it, but it still rattles just a little bit.
