I don't get the sub and limited rear speakers. I also don't have the steering wheel controls.
Any tips?
See how to correctly hook up your harness for the sub here
how to make stock subwoofer work with headunit?

And steering wheel control

Re: Help: Kenwood Install

this thread helped me with the swi-jac.
Help for those who are installing an aftermarket HU and installing a PAC interface

Its a pain in the butt to program, but after a few tries, I got it to work perfectly. The only thing I don't like. You have to hold the button for a second to get the function to work, ya can't just tap the volume up button like normal.

Re: Help: Kenwood Install

I had the same problem. Got tired of it. So I went back in and removed the T-taps and tapped and soldered right into the harness of the third plug.
Solved my problem.

Re: Help: Kenwood Install

hmm, I may have to try that. I might just cut wires and connect it directly. I don't see me selling the FJ anytime soon.

Re: Help: Kenwood Install

I am weak... I broken down and decided I didn't want to deal with the install. So I am having Best Buys finish off the installation. The installer sound very knowledgeable and said they didn't a lot of the custom installation for dealers. He was very helpfull and agreeable to all the things I wanted done.

He said that it is harder to bypass the parking break sensor wire on the Kenwood's. The head unit looks for a voltage pulse. He didnt know any way around that except maybe a switch. He thought PAC made a unit that might be able to fool the head unit. Any body have any experience with enabling the DVD with the Kenwoods?

It is not LEGAL for any retailer to do this.
Anyway.
On my Kenwood, I took that wire that is looking for the parking brake signal (to play DVD while driving) WAS GROUND IT OUT. You can ground it out to anything metal.
I personal took that wire and wired into the the black wire on the vehicle specific harness. To help keep my harness clean.
PS I also did this for the add navigation unit. So you can input while driving.

Re: Help: Kenwood Install

Kenwood radio harness= GREEN wire with the PRK SW sticker goes to ground.
Or attach it to black wire on vehicle specific harness.
I don't take any responsabilities if anything goes wrong/happens.
This is set up this way as a safety feature.

Page FOUR.
Light Green wire is looking for GROUND when parking brake is ON.
So if it is grounded all the time you should have what you are looking for.

Re: Help: Kenwood Install

I have the 7100, and I'm in Seattle. I didn't connect my deck to the parking brake, I just grounded that wire. Send me a PM, maybe I can come by.
