this might be a stupid question

can i install the radio antenna using the bandi mount instead of having the antenna on the hood?

Re: New CB Antena Mount !!!

Would it be better to mount the antena on the roof rack ? Just woundering since it is the highest point.

The Bandi mount is great for mounting an antenna on the rear door-hinge if you'd like. If you want to mount an antenna to the roof rack you'll have to make sure that the rack is grounded first, if it isn't then you'll have to ground it before mounting any antenna. You'll also need a mount that will fit around the rails on the rack.

If you do it then post pix!

Re: New CB Antena Mount !!!

On my way back from K3JNZ's new digs and killer antenna farm in Riverside, IA, I stopped at Walcott CB. For some time I've been searching for a solution to mounting an additional antenna on my FJ....preferabe location is the passenger side of the rear door (already have a Bandi/75M Shark on the hinge). I was just about to pop for High Sierra's Sidesaddle Mount at $85. Glad I stopped at Walcott. Check it out....especially the price:

It is identical to the High Sierra mount except that the coax supplied with the High Sierra is wired for control of their motorized antennas. Go figure!

I've done business with Walcott over the years and it never ceases to amaze me the sheer volume of items they stock and how cool the people are there. I've read numerous questions about Walcott CB as to their reputation and service. Walcott CB is a stand-alone, real brick-and-mortar entity with the largest stock of radio electronic items I've ever seen assembled under one roof. For those interested in seeing what the place looks like, hit the link below.
