Cobra 75wxst install problems- help.

Just got done installing the Cobra 75WXST with the Bandi mount.
Double check all the ground.
STILL NO SOUND. At all. Nothing. Even when turning on and off.

Is there supose to be any sound (beep or static) from the unit upon start up?

Two things I can think off.
1- the unit (Cobra) is defective. But it powers up and show a reading.
2-still isn't grounded properly.

Is there supose to be continuity between the the ant base and the Bandi mount stud (where the lock (nylon) nut is tighten down on the Bandi mount? I am not getting any continuity between those two spots when I was checking around with my multimeter. I even removed more paint on the hinge hole as per Bandi instruction.

Re: Cobra 75wxst install problems- help.

Also, where the antenna (not sure which one
you have) mounts to the bandi mount, needs
to be cleared of paint so it makes contact...

PICTURES would be a great help, try to get a
few shots of the underside of the mount where
there should be paint cleared off at the antenna...

note part 3 (image 1) of the instructions HERE...

Re: Cobra 75wxst install problems- help.

No tone no nothing upon startup. I am pretty sure it's a defective Cobra.
Now I need to find someone close to me to be 100% sure it is the unit.
Anyone in/near NYC?

Re: Cobra 75wxst install problems- help.

Here is my set up.

FireStik -FS2-W Two Foot Tunable tip CB antenna
Firestik - MU8R18 - 2-Piece 18ft "EZ-Install" Single Coax (MU8R18)
Cobra 75WXST Remote CB & Weather Radio (75WXST)
Firestik - SS3M - Stainless Steel Spring (SS3M)
Firestik K4R FireRing Stud Mount (K4R)
Firestik - K1A - Internal Locking Quick Disconnect (K1A)

I mailed ordered my Cobra. Anyone know of any big chain store that might carry this radio(CB)? I would like to go pick one up and send the other one back.

Does the LED window light up? As others have said, grounding or any other attachments have nothing to do with sound. Either way I would contact the company you bought it from and arrange for a return.
