sub recommendation?

Hey all,
Can you help me pick out the right sub for me? I'm currently running the alpine m-1000 (1000 watts at 2 ohms, 600 watts at 4 ohms) through a ported rockford 2X10 enclosure. I'm using a line level converter and run this off the stock system. It sounds like crap--i'm overpowering the speakers, and they get dirty real fast.

I'm looking for clean bass...I love metal, and I wanna feel the bass drum. I'm thinking a 1X10 enclosure to save on space, but i'm open to suggestions. I cant break the bank at this point, so I need something effective and good but under $300 for the sub and enclosure. Any input?

thanks!

overpowering wont ever make a speaker sound bad. its the factory deck in combination with the enclosure that is making the woofers sound bad.

i would suggest upgrading the head unit and getting the proper box built first. that will make a world of difference. with that power and size, i would recommend a treo tsx. they are energetic. and if they sound good sealed if you dont want to give up much room, but i would really go ported.

satellites, i'm sure you mean coaxials. wicked cas enclosures arent nearly as efficient as others, but they do save the floor space if that is a concern. with me, it isnt that big a concern because i have nobody to worry about when i stick my gear in the back seat.
