Which is better?

Is it better to use a line level convertor and use amp RCA inputs, or plug directly into the speaker level inputs on an aftermarket amp?

I'm saving for a new HU, but in the meantime I'm using the speaker level signals from the rear speakers.

FYI amp is alpine m-1000.

Thanks,

Re: Which is better?

Speaker level inputs for one reason in particular, the aftermarket high to low adapters tend to be noisy(hiss and such) for a sub it will work good enough but for high level i wouldn't recommend it, and from dealing with this on a day to day basis this is what i have found.
If your amp has it, use it. Also if it is going to be running a sub, i would also recommend running your signal of the fronts instead(doors not dash)...
