new owner, radio question

Hey everyone,

Just picked up my FJ the other day.. have a few questions that maybe someone can answer, I tried the search already.

How good is the stock head unit? I have the 9 speaker system. I have a set of Polk db5250 speakers from my last vehicle, Crutchfield says they will fit. Can I just swap out the tweeters that I assume are in the dash? And put the mids in the doors? Not sure how much power this head has.. if it's worth keeping.

thanks!

Re: new owner, radio question

it should have plenty of power for your mids and tweets, but you can never go wrong with a new head unit!

um, no it wont have plenty of power.

as far as swapping out the speakers. if you have components, you will need to use the crossovers instead of just wiring the speakers into the existing wires.

doubtful. that deck would most likely shut off everytime a bass note was played. i bet he had a line output converter and amplifier.
