Crossbar antenna mount? (and how do I get the wire up there?)

So, I've been seazrching and searching, both here and the web, and haven't found anything...

I'm debating going with a CB (cheaper and let's me talk to bikes with chatterboxes i think, too) or ham radio, but tat's not my question. I'm wondering if anyone has made an antenna mount that attaches to the end of a yakima crossbar? I know there are plenty that attach to the roof racks, but I was looking for something that I could put on the end of the crossbar in place of one of the endcaps, and that would also rotate 90 degrees so I could still fit in my garage.

Next questions is... How do you get the wire (for either that or lights) from inside the vehicle and coming out of on of the roof rack mounting locations? I've seen a few pics but couldn't find any how-to....?

You might be better served to go with a magnetic mount, depending upon how permanent you want the setup. That way you can use the cb & antenna when you want.

What I have just done (which you might want to consider, instead of a rack mount) is install a K40 steel whip antenna, on the top of the rear door. The K40 that I bought has a trunk-lid mount, and the base swivels to position the antenna so that it points straight up. Also, the base rotates and detaches, so only a small mount point is present (allows me to remove the antenna until I'm ready to use it, and not strike garage doors or low overhangs).

after running your post through babblefish a few times i figured out what you were asking.

chatterboxes are frs and gmrs, so the CB will not be able to comminicate with them.

Andtenna mount, there are several out there that mount to racks, are your yakima tubes round or oval. As far as being able to fold the antenna over you would have to use a folder over antenna adapter or dissconnect

I've got the round tubes, but I'm hoping to find something to stick in the side of it instead of attached to the bar itself, so it can rotate backwards. Folding over a mount in the back won't work because then it'd stick out too far backwards or to the side (tight fit for the truck as is in my garage)

and was hoping to find away to get the wire without drilling a whole right in the middle of the roof. :P

i've never seen anything to go inside the tube, i would go with the bandi mount and a quick disconnect or a short antenna
