Does anyone need instructions on how to install the cable through the inside of the FJ to attach it to the remote box?
If it's complicated enough for there to BE instructions, someone probably wants them...

But not me. I am tempted, though. That's a really nice install.

Re: Cobra 75 WXST and Bandi Mount Install

How to run the Cable Inside the FJ to the remote box

First you need to follow bandi's instructions to install his mount. You'll find those on the first post by Bigbill.

Parts:
Wire snake

Panel remover

You can buy both at Pro Fit

Remove the end of the connector

Put a slit in the plastic hose that houses wires running from the door into the cabin. Run the wire snake from the cabin out through the hole.

Tape the cable to the snake and fish it through.

Push the snake over and behind the fender well and the end of the snake popped out here.

Remove the kick panel along the door, pulls up.

Remove the dead pedal, slide your fingers behind the top, grab and pull towards you.

Turn the plastic screw that was under the dead pedal, towards the left, pop off panel on left.

Remover the cover from the seat belt, remove the bolt. This was next to where the snake popped out.

Use the panel remover to pop the side panel loose.

Pull the snake back a bit from the rear and then fish it again so you can grab it from the panel you just loosened.

Now run the wire along the the other wires under the kick panel and connect it to the remote box. Put the panels back on, you're done.

Make sure you follow the directions listed by Bigbill to calibrate your antenna

Re: Cobra 75 WXST and Bandi Mount Install

Does anybody know what size drill bit I need for drilling the hole in the center console to install the Cobra Quick Connector. I've seached the thread but couldn't find it. I'm receiving the parts from Wolcott on Thursday and just want to make sure I have everything so that I can install it Friday before a trail run on Saturday.

Thanks...

I tied mine directly to the battery. Not sure if I have a pic handy I'll have to look. I went thru where the wires in the door are and under the hood...

and thanks for bumping this thread...I see Ruebarb copied my idea and made it ugly with that hook

The easiest thing is using the tap a fuse mini, you'll need some extra mini fuses Amazon.com: Wirthco 30103 Tapa-Circuit- Mini: Automotive . You can plug it into a used or unused fuse slot, some are constantly powered and other slots are powered only with the key

Copied your idea, I don't recall seeing your idea anywhere around here, and believe me I'm not in your head. My ugly solution is completely removeable and only used when I need the CB, the rest of the time it is not there. MEANIE

You need to paint that whip to match the truck, but otherwise VERY nice setup.

I want to thank everyone for a great thread. After my dad & I got back from the Summit we decided we needed the Cobra 75 WXST. Thanks for all the great pics & post, it really made our life easier. I won't bother you with pics (there are already enough) I just wanted to say thanks. I love this forum!
