I just wanted to add a note here to make sure people do not over tighten the fire ring portion of the bandi mount. If you over tighten the bolt you can and probably will damage the ring. I did this and spent several hours on it before I figured out what was going on and I spoke to another guy today at a local meet that did exactly the same thing. Basically there is a solder join in the ring that breaks when you over tighten the main bolt. It twists it in such a way that will make you crazy trying to figure out your horrible SWR readings.

I know several people have mentioned that they "really had to crank down on it", but I just wanted to let people know that they shouldn't tighten down excessively unless they have to. If you properly remove the paint and get good metal to metal contact, normal torque on the mount should be fine.

Hope this helps others from repeating my mistakes.
I've found that a small amount of Permatex 67A dielectric grease makes a perfect ground without torquing too much.

Great install! Thanks bigbill and Bandi.

Re: Cobra 75 WXST and Bandi Mount Install

Sorry if this has been answered but I didn't see it , would it be required to reset the SWR after removing the firstick using the quick disconnect provided with the big bill combo?

No.. once you adjust the length of your antenna (that screw on the firestick) it should stay the same unless you have a bad connection in your quick disconnect.

When I logged on to their web site on Thanksgiving day they had a sale. I snagged the package for $200. You might ask them for that again.

Re: Cobra 75 WXST and Bandi Mount Install

How do you wire the Control box to an accessory fuse so when you turn your FJ off with the key the CB doesn't get power?

Re: Cobra 75 WXST and Bandi Mount Install

Thanks to everyone who contributed on this one. Just got mine in tonight. It's a temp antenna, but I'll switch to a firestik when I can get the parts in.

FYI, Doing this in freezing temps outside sucks, but wanted to have it done before the Jamboree tomorrow.
