[quote=bigbill25]Today I got around to installing my CB. Here's the deal:

Hi folks,
Does anyone remember hearing or reading that Toyota cautions against installing CBs, or at least recommends conferring with their service department before doing so? I don't know why that thought is floating around in my head, but it is there. What could possibly be the problem?

Re: Cobra 75 WXST and Bandi Mount Install

I ran into one other problem when I installed mine. The access between the Ebrake cables is used in the automatic transmission. It has a thick metal plate, thats bolted in place, and the cable from the shifter runs through it. I drilled a hole in the sheet metal above it, and RTV'ed the coax in place. I sure was glad the large end unscrewed from the coax, otherwise I would have needed a 3/4" hole. Its a little hard to see but heres a picture.

The Auto's don't just have the small access plug there? Interesting...

Re: Cobra 75 WXST and Bandi Mount Install

I think the manual has the access plug because the auto uses it for the cable. It took me a few minutes to figure out why the heck I didn't have the nice rubber access plug you had. Then I saw that you have a manual.

Re: Cobra 75 WXST and Bandi Mount Install

Definetely a great install and instructions, pics, etc. Like Chase Dog I was also curious about why Toyota doesn't recommend installing a cb. Maybe when transmitting it would have some sort of interference with the computer or other electronic gismo's???? Anyone experience any such problems?

Not sure why they wouldn't (unless it's a distraction thing), but the FCC wouldn't allow components within the vehicle, especially safety related components, to interfere with CB frequencies, or vice versa.
