Bandi. No digital camera yet. Hasn't been too long ago since we got electricity.
You're cracking me up. Then again, if you're around the Mt Pleasant area, you may not be kidding...

Re: Cobra 75 WXST and Bandi Mount Install

Was trying to set my SWR today. No matter how many adjustments I made I could only get 2.5 on one channel and 3 on another. I know it is supposed to be 2 or less but this is the best I could get. Is a 3 reading a problem?

Re: Cobra 75 WXST and Bandi Mount Install

Sounds like you have a bad ground at the bandi mount.
If not grounded properly, the SWR can skyrocket through the roof.

Re: Cobra 75 WXST and Bandi Mount Install

Are you using the Firering mount made by Firestik?
It grounds to the bandi mount, but you need to bare metal contact at that point, and the bandi mount must have bare metal exposed where it touches the FJ.

Another thing you can do is take where the Firering mounts on the bandi, and run a short groundwire from to somewhere on the FJ.
But idealy it must be very close.
The shorter the ground the better.

Re: Cobra 75 WXST and Bandi Mount Install

I just got my Cobra 75 in the mail today and plan on installing it this weekend if I have time...My question is though for Bill and those who wired the antenna cable like as Bill did underneath the rig...Doing this is there any way it can get pinched up by the suspension or ripped out by rock crawling?? I think the cable is tucked away enough to be out of harms way, but I haven't crawled up under my rig yet to see how it looks....

Naw. It's all inside of the frame. No threats at all...

Re: Cobra 75 WXST and Bandi Mount Install

Couldn't get that link to work for me, but found it here

OR

Never shopped here so I don't vouch, but I may grab one.
By the way, is a magnet mounted antenna a bad idea?
