Replacing ARM REST with other type?

Hi,

Last week on a vaction, my wife drove FJ over few hours time span over few days. Near the end of vacation, she then said, I needed to get rid of arm rest. The cloth on the arm rest is "rough" and it sorts rub her arm red. She put towel over it. I let this slide, but then... after few days of long drive, I've found that she is right.

I got to think if we could use arm rest from other toyota? Would this work? Have anybody tried this or have access to surplus of toyota arm rest? Probably black vynil or black leather? Something better than canvas arm rest? Would be cheaper? To get two arm rests for driver and passenger from toyota bone yard?

Thanks

Probably be easier to get someone to make a slip cover for the arm rest.

Replace the wife......She brained washed you and make you think the same....

In all seriousness, You wont have any luck finding any. Otherwise you could have the arm rest reskinned with the matching leather but it will be lots of money....

take them to an upholstery shop, i think this would be cheper than even a bone yard. We purchased the passenger arm rest from toyota and it was over $88 bucks for the one! easy to install. so you could remove them easily and have them redone with some cushion/foam below the covers! easy fix for the upholstery guys! may look into this myself???

I think that's your best bet. remove and have them re-upholstered with something that is tough, but soft on the skin.

Well over years marriage, I got to doubt if my clothes are color coordinated because she tells me... my socks dont match or something else. Now she tells me about the arm rest. Maybe I should replace her.

No really, I agree with her. I guess I'll go and buy passenger arm rest, and then have upholstery done on it.

Thanks.

A soft cotton sock cut and sewn to size that slips over the end would be quick, cheap and washable...think I'll go have My girl make Me a pair right now.
