12V power outlet broken

I've had my FJ for 2 weeks, and already had my 12V power outlet break. The outlet is really tight with my phone adapter, and when I tried to unplug it to plug in a compressor, it broke.

I know it is under warranty, but it is still a pain in the arse to take it back to the dealership for them to fix it. I'm glad I didn't put the second outlet in yet, or they would probably have an excuse as to why it isn't under warranty. Oh well, hopefully they fix it right. Has anyone else had problems with theirs pulling out of the dash?

Re: 12V power outlet broken

I noticed that it is tight also and seems a little weak. I was surprised by this, but have learned to hold the panel while unplugging my charger.

Re: 12V power outlet broken

Quite a few memeber have had problems with the outlet pulling out or breaking or getting the charger stuck. Been alot of small threads on this, I've haven't found anything that will get stuck.

Re: 12V power outlet broken

So far, the charger from the Palm Treo phone and GPS, and my air compressor have both gotten stuck in it. We'll see how it is once I get it back from the dealer.

Noticed my door handle creaks as well... Not a big deal, but I might as well have them look at that while it is there.

Re: 12V power outlet broken

Get a splitter then you can have 2-3 outlets and just leave the splitter plugged in. Best $10 mod there is.

Re: 12V power outlet broken

I also had my Treo charger pull the power outlet out of the dash, I had to pry it out with a screwdriver, and I guess it became unplugged because it does not work. I plan on having it fixed next week @ 5000 mile service, disapointing but that's the only problem I've had so maybe I'm lucky.
