Re: iPod connected directly to FJ Jammer - Installation Instructions

I will try that in a bit, off work in 20 minutes.
I will just turn the key off when the iPod is playing still, then I will update this later tonight.

Re: iPod connected directly to FJ Jammer - Installation Instructions

Stopped off at Fred Myers on the way home to pick up the DVD XMen III.

I was listeing to the band Tool from the iPod and just turned the key off, did not touch the FJammer at all.

When I came out and started up the rig, the song picked up right from where I left off.

Contact info from Adam a technician at DICE.

Hi Corey, did they try calling 1.888.DICE.999? If they weren't getting through on that, have them call 1.562.595.5153. My extension to both numbers is 114.
Are any of you still having issues?

Re: iPod connected directly to FJ Jammer - Installation Instructions

I received my second unit after contacting Dice on Monday. I plugged the unit and works fine but the fjammer still "forgets" about that the dice adaptor is plugged in and the next time I start the FJ it recognizes it. This might annoy some but overall I'm pretty happy with this purchase.

Adam just PM'd me some more info

The system should be working, it might just be an order of operations for installing. And when they change ANY of the switches, they must disconnect the module first from the radio.
And remember, all of my dip switches are in the upper position as stated in this thread a few days ago.

"it might just be an order of operations for installing"

Corey, Is the order the same as what you specifically detailed in your instructions in the beginning of this thread?

Re: iPod connected directly to FJ Jammer - Installation Instructions

Probably.
But when I put in my new unit, the only thing I did was unplug the plug on the DICE that goes to the head unit, and swapped in the new one, and reconnected back the docking cable.

My dips were already in the upper position.

I have the single disk unit, not the FJammer, and my Ipod adaptor (the USA-Spec one) has similar issues. The Denision adaptor in my previous car had the same kinds of issues you all are talking about here. I never knew wether to blame Denision, Apple, or the stereo (now it's down to Apple or the Ipod adapters I suppose )

Re: iPod connected directly to FJ Jammer - Installation Instructions

OK, the new one works. I can see text and control it from the steering wheel.

Some things I don't like but can live with:
1) Seems that every time disconnect the iPod, I have to reset before plugging it in. Kind of a pain since I sync podcasts a few times a week.
2) The dock plug is bigger than the Apple's dock plug which means I have to remove the iSkin case.
3) For text that's longer than the screen, it doesn't scroll so you only see the first couple of words.
4) Controls aren't intuitive but I suppose that has more to do w/ the FJammer controls than anything else.
5) As every engineer can agree with, I wish there was a way to reset the box from the dock connector, like a reset button. I have the box hidden in the dash, so if I have to reset everything I need to pull the radio fuse. That's kind of a pain.

I also got stuck inadvertently in a mode where I was in AUX mode and the buttons only increased the volume. I figured it out after looking at the instructions.
