But I don't know about the FJammer being "the best of the best". It's got some neat features. If they intended to deliver a top of the line audio experience, they would have spent more than $10 on the speakers
I meant SUPPOSED TO BE the one of best. The way they made it sound, when they advertised Upgrade Package 2, I expected a heck of a lot more. The Sienna, or Avalon's, factory radio will beat the heck out of the FJammer sound and volume wise. I expected the FJammer to be as good as the stereo in the Avalon, top of the line Camry, or Sienna. What I got is a radio that is just marginally better than the ones that come with a base model Corolla.

I see new speakers in the very near future.

You'll love it when you pull the factory speakers out. I would have laughed my ass off, if not for the fact that I actually paid for them.

Re: iPod connected directly to FJ Jammer - Installation Instructions

It's called RDS and my 1999 BMW also had it. Been in use in Europe for years and just starting to pick up steam in the US. I agree that it's STUPID that RDS isn't standard. W/ RDS, scrolling appears to be an automatic thing.

AND, I believe Griffin has an RDS FM transmitter that works w/ iPods and shows text for $80. But no go on the FJammer.

Re: iPod connected directly to FJ Jammer - Installation Instructions

Wife has a Sienna XL, not even the XLE, with the standard cd stereo. the sound a lot alike. true, the fjammer has the ipod connection, aux plug, sat radio and wma/mp3 capability, but the pure audio clarity isn't much better than the wife's stereo, if it is at all. the fjammer may be pretty sophisticated with its input sources, but it's output is what hurts it. it is like toyota told the audio consultant - "Hey, design a system that does all this for $xxx" and the consultant spent about 98% of $xxx on stereo looks, capabilities and inputs, and then realized he had 2% to deal with output (i.e. amplifier) and speakers.

while I appreciate all those who want stock (and who bought my fjammer and sub box), dropping a single din $200 (what I got for my fjammer) alpine/pioneer/sony/kenwood in a scosche dash kit, will substantially improve sound, give sat radio and ipod connections for far less than the fjammer, and give you 3 sets of line level outputs for flexibility down the road. I swear that I get more bass with new cheapie alpine deck and stock 6x9's in door (w/out sub) than I did with fjammer, 6x9's and stock sub. after dropping in components in door and front, it is even better. can't wait to put the new amps in and sub.....

What'd you replace them with Chris?? For financial reasons, I have to keep the head unit for now. However, new speakers would give me a start in the right direction.

I have put 6 1/2" in Diamond D6 component speakers in the door, tweeters in the dash. And I put Diamond D6 component speakers in the arm rest cutout behind the rear doors - 5 1/2" inch drivers, 1" tweeters (this was a bit of a mistake - I didn't realize that I could have put 6 1/2" coaxle D6s in there instead. Not that it sounds bad at all now...). I also put an Alpine F450 amp under the passenger seat. Oh, and I also about $700 worth of dynamat on the doors, side panels, floor boards, on the roof.

It's a little overboard considering the money and my particular need for so much stuff. But once I got started, it kept sounding better and better...

I'm not sure how much you'd get out of just replacing the speakers. I would probably not choose to upgrade them until I could get some additional amplification somewhere - either seperate amp or new head unit.

Re: iPod connected directly to FJ Jammer - Installation Instructions

One guy on my forum PM'd me yesternight to say he had only text for the track and minutes/seconds.

I told him to check to make sure the dips are all in the upper position first, and also asked where he bought it.

He should get back to me later today.

He may have an older unit, I am not sure.
Next step is I will see what the #s are on the unit.

Re: iPod connected directly to FJ Jammer - Installation Instructions

Well, I ordered one of these. Jessie was out, so I spoke with Adam. He assured me and down and backwards that he was fully aware of the FJ issue and that he would absolutely send me one with the right firmware that worked. So after a 10 minute interrogation, I gave him my money.

Re: iPod connected directly to FJ Jammer - Installation Instructions

Talked to Adam today. Sent back the Dice for a new one or for the firmware update. What ever the case I hope this will be the trick for me. Good news is the swap or reprogramming is free for us. Good news also for me is Dice is about 7 miles from my house. So in short if they do me wrong, I will go Jihad on there A**es. So far been using the dice with no problems for the past few months with out the firmware update. So i'm pretty sure all will be well.
