Re: iPod connected directly to FJ Jammer - Installation Instructions

OK, just got into work.
As I sat in the parking lot I had it on FM2.

Put in an MP3 CD I had ripped with iTunes.
It auto switched from FM2 to to the MP3 CD and started to play.

Next I pushed the Mode button on the steering wheel and Joe Satriani on the iPod came to life for me.

Pushed Mode again, it went to aux.
Pushed it again and again and it cycled through all it was suppose to.
Left it on the CD.

I turned off the stereo and the rig.
Turned the key back to acc. and turned the headunit on and the CD started to play.

Hit Mode and it went to the iPod like it should have.

Works for me.
First time though that I have played a CD since hooking up the DICE.
I just do not see the need anymore to play CDs since having a library of tunes on tap from the iPod.

Re: iPod connected directly to FJ Jammer - Installation Instructions

So, I just got my second unit, and using Corey's sequence of chaning it off of the Aux/Sat and into FM before turning off the car brings the ipod back to life the next time it starts. I've only been using it half the day tho. If it's still working a week from now I'll be satisfied

Re: iPod connected directly to FJ Jammer - Installation Instructions

Looks like I was too excited about getting mine working earlier because now the piece of crap isn't working right. I haven't used mine for more than a month because I have such a short drive to work. Anyway, I'm leaving for Key West tommorrow morning so when I was getting the FJ ready I thought I better make sure everything still works. It doesn't!

I plugged it in and the iPod did the normal scrolling thing it does when it looks like it's having a kaniption fit. Next I turned the ignition and then the FJammer on. I selected the CD changer but noticed that the iPod didn't go off pause. I pushed play on the iPod and it played fine. I then tried using my steering wheel controls to advance to the next track......Nothing. I hit the text button and I get a message that says "Detached." I know the thing isn't detached because it's playing.

I turn off the radio and the iPod doesn't pause. I turn off the ignition and the iPOD stays on and doesn't go off like it did. to make things worse, the iPOD will not turn off when it's plugged into the DICE connector. So, once again I'm back to having a $175.00 Aux jack. And I don't have time to take the head unit out and trouble shoot it. I've got to go pack.

I don't know what could've happened in the few weeks I didn't use the thing. The wire sat in the glove box with a plastic protector over the plug so I know nothing could've shorted it out. Could something have happened while they were wiring the lights? Is there a specific procedure for hooking up the iPod? Does everyone else's iPOD power up with the ignition key off??

This thing is about as reliable as a Yugo!

Re: iPod connected directly to FJ Jammer - Installation Instructions

Well sent my original back to Dice for the firmware update. Got it back and worked as if no firmware update even took place. Called Adam. He sent out a replacement unit that finally worked and I sent back the other one. All is good but now I have a 60/40 chance of it working or sould I say sync'ing up when I turn on the FJ and going to CD1. I am thinking of installing a 12V+ bypass switch on the power wire so as I don't have to power the FJ down so much. I'll just be doing a small SPST 20A switch bolted to the botom of the front dash somewhere near the steering colum. Or I can just get hip and do a 20A SPDT relay and a SPDT switch at like 1A.

Too funny - I was thinking about doing the same thing.

I think DICE needs to provide an official response to this forum - they seem to be a sponsored vendor selling a product that is not reliable.

Amen! Us "Beta Testers" at least want to know that we're being heard and that something is being done to fix the many glitches.

It's pissing me off. They should tell a guy their product doesn't work 40% of the time before taking a guy's money.

posting just to bump this more than anything....

I'm still waiting to buy until I see some level of satisfaction for you early users and some responsiveness from Dice.

Re: iPod connected directly to FJ Jammer - Installation Instructions

I am 100% satisfied.
I seem to have gotten one of the first revised firmware units and it works great.

Re: iPod connected directly to FJ Jammer - Installation Instructions

I've got my second unit and, with the exception of text working, have the same issues that I had with number one.
