Re: iPod connected directly to FJ Jammer - Installation Instructions

I just ordered the VAIS, I had purchased the DICE after reading through your posts. I have been having the same trouble. I think the reliability is worth the extra $$$.

My biggest peave is that the DICE unit does not show the Playlist titles.
That I cannot live with.

Also, this morning the display Froze with a song title and the music stopped, then when I switched songs, the display stayed with the frozen song title, then the iPod lit up and it said "ok to disconnect" Then I had to press AUX 3 times and come back to CD1....it's rediculous.

I just got the DICE last week, so it should be the latest firmware.

I want to thank you all for your information, time and effort. When I bought my FJ the dealer told me that I couldn't get an iPod interface because I got the upgraded stereo. I was like, "we'll see" And if it wasn't for your help I'd be using the AUX input still.

Thanks again

Cool Re: iPod connected directly to FJ Jammer - Installation Instructions

Well, I have to say, that while waiting for the Vais to show...I became a hater of the Dice, That thing sucks! I had to restart my FJ almost every time; the ipod would start at the beginning of my playlist every time I shut off the FJ. I installed the Vais and have never looked back. The Playlist text feature is making it easy to brows my ipod, I don't need to run it from the iPod because I have all the tools right on my deck.

I've tried both Vais wins hands down.

Again, A big thanks to every one....except Dice...

rjp special thanks for the Vais recommendation.... not a surprise seeing where you come from!

Here is a quick comparison of DICE and VAIS products; even if you don't want the VAIS, it does talk to some of the features available to each unit.

They may have fixed the issues with the DICE since I tried but, after 3 units, I was done with them. Thing would just not connect about 1/8 times; you would then have to turn the truck off and restart it. PITA if you were just running around town stopping a lot. After installing the VAIS, I've never looked back ... has worked 100% for nearly a year now. Big drawback with the VAIS unit is that you can't control the deck through the iPod; that is, you have to use the deck to navigate. I like to pick playlists and use random so not an issue for me ... is a problem for many though.

DICE vs. VAIS

Re: iPod connected directly to FJ Jammer - Installation Instructions

Dice is up to Firmware Version 63 now. This has fixed any and all issues with the Dice unit. Since I have had the latest firmware I have not missed a beat what so ever. Sucks that it took them a year to get it right. But great things come to people that wait. I could be driving and switch from FM to CD1 or from CD to CD1 and it is always there. Adam from dice has been a great help.

Dice is Located in Lakewood, Cali. Right next to the Long Beach airport. Right real close to my house. 10min drive.

Yeah, I sent them a PM, since it seems like this version of the firmware update is solid.

No answer yet, but I just sent it yesterday.

Re: iPod connected directly to FJ Jammer - Installation Instructions

Hello Everyone,

First I would like to thank you for your valuable information.

I want to order the DICE for my FJammer but as I live in a far part on earth (Dubai, UAE) I want to make sure that it's working fine now without any problems before ordering as it will be really hard to exchange or update due to distance factor.

Second, does DICE ship outside U.S & Canada so i can order mine online or will I have to let someone in the states to get it and ship it for me.

Thanks for your information.

Hi,
The DICE units are solid in the FJ Cruiser's now, however other user's should be able to confirm this as well. We are getting a dealer set up in Dubai as we speak. The company name is Quartermile and their phone number is +971 4 339 4633. They have a website as well (www.quartermile.net). This dealer should be set up and ready to go within 2-3 weeks and you could place an order through them, possibly even visit them since they are local. Let me know if you have any further questions.

Regards,
Adam
