Re: iPod connected directly to FJ Jammer - Installation Instructions

Since their are a few us now using this device. I would keep a steady call into Dice Electronics Tech Support so they don't forget about us. If we call them often asking about the firmware update they will be more incline to work on it faster, I would think. The one tech guy I talked to said about 60 days. If we keep naggin them and calling they will get to it faster to get us off their back. Trust me the Tech Support people talk to the Engineers all the time. I Project Manage Home Theater sales and installs all the time. When I have problems out in the field and the home owners are calling me day and night on my cell and at the office. I can't wait to get them out of my hair. Just a BIG thought on this. 1-888-342-3999 Ask for tech support.

I phoned today to find out about the firmware … and realized this company is reincarnation of Dension - I believe it's actually owned by them (same receptionist answered the phone from 2 years ago). I installed four separate Dension units in my Acura (not one worked) before giving up and going to another brand … I swore I would never [knowingly] buy another one of their products. I just hope they have a different tech support department … if not, we won’t be getting text anytime soon.

When I called Icarkits a week or so ago I asked if this was a knock off of Dension. I was told that it was not and they were Euro made and Dice is American made. I was told something to the effect that the 2 go through a lot of the same distrubition chains and both are sold by many retail outlets. But they could be very well affiliated for all I know. Could be they were bought out with new management and a new business goals. I'd call back tomorrow and ask.

Re: iPod connected directly to FJ Jammer - Installation Instructions

For those of you that have installed this (and taken out the glove box) - is there empty space (and how much) above the glove box and below the passenger air bag for mounting the black box and other toys?

Re: iPod connected directly to FJ Jammer - Installation Instructions

I seriously doubt it that they even tested this on an FJs headunit.
I think they should just ship us a new unit instead of the trouble of us sending them in.

Afterall, it is a form of false advertising on their part.
If they do not make good on this, I will be looking into this unit.
http://www.smartcart.com/FJCruiser/c...item_num=FJpod
Cheaper, and it seems to do more, and it says it is digital.

Oooops, I forgot, it will not work with the FJammer radio with the 6 CD function

NOTE: This product will NOT work with the premium sound system radio with the build in 6 disc changer. It plugs into the rear of the radio in the changer port plug of the standard radio
I wonder why, it has the plug on it that goes to the changer port just like the unit we bought.

Re: iPod connected directly to FJ Jammer - Installation Instructions

Noticed a few things driving into work.

1. No rattles behind the dash since I just stuffed the unit behind the head unit.

2. Album art was full screen on the iPod, thus it blocked out the name of the song and also how many seconds it was into the track.
I have seen my iPod do this before in the past.
I pushed the menu button where it showed me all the tracks in the current play list.
After it switched back to the album art on its own, the screen was fixed, back to normal size and it showed the text on the iPods face.

3. The iPod goes into pause mode by itslef when you select mode on the steering wheel of the head unto to switch to aux, AM, FM1, FM2, ect, pretty darn cool.

Use to having to pause it myself when the iPod was hooked upto the aux input before.

This is cool, very cool.
Also when you power off the FJammer, the iPod powers down too.

My only complaint of course is the text snafu.
All we can do is keep on them about it.

...or you can simply plug it into the AUX input.

Re: iPod connected directly to FJ Jammer - Installation Instructions

True, but you can not control the iPod with your steering wheel controls or the head unit, or charge it unless you buy a seperate charger.

With a unit such as this, you never have to take your eyes off the road and play with the iPod anymore.
Plus the iPod turns off when you turn the head unit off, then picks up where it left off when you fire up the stereo again and select the iPod.

I think the sound quality is a little better too.

Re: iPod connected directly to FJ Jammer - Installation Instructions

I'm pretty happy with the unit as it is ... will be much better once there is text. I'm basically just going to leave the iPod in the glove box and consider it a 60 GB addition to the stereo.

I also believe they should ship out a new black box (rather than having to send the unit in first); we should all push for this when we talk to the support people.

Re: iPod connected directly to FJ Jammer - Installation Instructions

OK, I just spoke with tech support at DICE.
The woman I just spoke with said yes, there is a firmware update, but it is for nav systems and this unit.

She also said they are not any part of www.icarkits.com who sold us these units.
She also said this unit was never to be released for our rigs

They have about 5 dealers they use.
So maybe someone else can call them too and try and pull some more info on this.
She has my cell, and will call me later after she talks with support.

Also I will try and call if not today next Monday that other company that makes the cheaper $129 one for the non FJammer stereo and ask why it will not work with ours, unless someone else can do the homework on this.

But right now it does not look so good, but maybe that will change.
To the top again, the two #s
