Re: iPod connected directly to FJ Jammer - Installation Instructions

They should take the FJ Cruiser option off of their menu - it sort of implies their product works with ... well ... the FJ Cruiser.

Re: iPod connected directly to FJ Jammer - Installation Instructions

I complained to DICE about it being in the menu over there.
Quote:
  • 50% of the time I get music with complete control of the iPod from the stereo
  • 25% of the time there is no recognition that anything is connected (no CD1)
  • 25% of the time I get music without any control from the stereo
In answer to all of the 3 above, mine has worked flawlessly.
I have even push the power button on the FJammer off and then on real quick, and the music picks up right away.

The only complaint I have still is the text.
And I am not looking forward to taking the dash apart again.
I wish I had routed the black box to teh inside of the glove box like I mentioned elsewhere.
That would have made it easy to take out for when the need arrises.

Re: iPod connected directly to FJ Jammer - Installation Instructions

I have had no Problems or issues at all with mine. Works every time. The only drawback is this: If you power off the stereo and then power off the truck and remove the key, the stereo looses site of the Dice unit. If you leave the stereo on and power off the car and remove key and restart truck at a later time all is well. So the best advice I can give: remember to leave the Fjammer on all the time and shut the truck off when you get out. I have powered the truck off and left key in and started it right back up with no delay and I was able to get the Dice back on line. I am using an 4G ipod mini.

Never had that problem Ace.
Most of the time I will power off the FJammer first, then shut the rig off.

Then when I start the rig and turn on the FJammer, it picks right up on the last song.

Re: iPod connected directly to FJ Jammer - Installation Instructions

I can leave the stereo on when I turn the truck off and, when I start it up again, the stereo is off. This has happened a couple of times now.

I'm running a 60 GB iPod Photo - I wonder if there is an issue in the time it takes to cycle on (disk to spin up, etc.). I have found that, if the problem occurs, I can turn the truck on off, wait a few seconds and things seem to be ok.

Here is the note I received from iCarKits:
We have other people using the same adapter in that vehicle without problems, though we have seen some similar issues. DICE is releasing a new software version of the I-TOYOTA-R which will work very well with all of the FJ cruisers.

It would be best to just hold the unit you have until we get this version in, at which time we can swap it for you. We are hoping to get it within the next 1 - 2 weeks.
Probably just follow their advice on this one.

Re: iPod connected directly to FJ Jammer - Installation Instructions

Meantime...I will find the time to route the black box into my glove box instead of stuffed behind the headunit.

Then when the time comes to ship it back, it will be easier.
They better not require we send all the cables back to.
I only want to crack open the dash one more time.

The next time after that it will be for an Alpine W200 headunit.

Forgot to mention, I am using the 30 GB iPod Video.

Heeeeeeeeeee hawwwwwwww
Dice just called me, and they have the update working in an FJ.

What they are going to do is ship me a new one right away, and when I receive it I will install it to make sure it first works, then I will send the non text one back to them.

No down time, how sweet is that?

Re: iPod connected directly to FJ Jammer - Installation Instructions

Kudos to you guys for continuing to "complain". I know how long it takes to change firmware and that's a pretty quick turn around.

Corey, did they say if you'll be receiving a fully QA'ed (checked) version of firmware or are you getting pre-release version?

Let us know how your testing went.

Next, where do we buy since it was incorrectly listed the first time?

Re: iPod connected directly to FJ Jammer - Installation Instructions

Amanda, do not order one yet from icarkits.com as they do not have the new units yet.
She said she was going to contact him to pull them down for the FJC until he gets in the new batch.
You might be able to get one though directly from Dice.
If the URL is not in this thread, I have it here.

oldskool, they are sending me a brand new unit as far as I know.
Just an upgraded one from the one I have with the firmware flashed.

I would call them to see if you can get it directly from them.

PS, I love this one still though.
The other day I bought from iTunes 26 Joe Satriani tunes, and using the DICE unit it sounds very good, better than the radio of a CD for that matter.
Can not wait now to see the text of the song.
