Re: iPod connected directly to FJ Jammer - Installation Instructions
Just spoke with Dice again.
My unit is being shipped hopefully before the end of the week.
I am pretty much a beta tester for this unit, so they want to hear from me first if there are any snags with it before releasing it to the public.
As soon as I run it through its paces, I will contact them and give them the yeah or nay on it.
I would hold off on ordering one until they hear back from me or the other two guy's here that bought one of the units from icarkits.

Re: iPod connected directly to FJ Jammer - Installation Instructions
Corey / fjb, thank you very much for the informative thread. I've been interested in this type of product for quite some time. The need for the ability to control the IPOD with the steering wheel, and F-Jammer head unit, controls was amplified after my recent 2000 mile trip to Cincinnati for my Dad's funeral. Looking down, or having to to pick up thr IPOD out of the cup holder, while driving was a pain.
I almost bought this item but will wait for the report on the upgrade before my purchase.

I first have to say, that that's an awesome write up at the beginning of this thread. These are the sort of posts that make the forum what it is. Awesome work!
However, after reading the entire thread isn't it easier to just use the Aux port and plug the pod into that?
I have a male to male stero headphone cable with 3.5mm jacks on each end. I plug in my pod, my pda phone etc interchangeably. I control the music from the pod, the sound comes out of the fj speakers ... bob's your uncle.
It seems like a lot of work to install the kit that this post talks about, for very little benefit. In fact, from what I'm reading you lose CD1?
Anyway, my $2 solutions works for me.

I'm with you. Less is more.

I would sure like to see the title/artist info on the head unit. I have about 30GB of music on my Neuros and can't remember all the details. Also, being able to use the steering wheel and head controls to switch songs would be easier and safer than reaching down into the center console. That said, it will be a cold day in Hell before someone makes a custom solution for the Neuros...

Nope, quality is better sounding, and you have FULL control over your iPod from the steering wheel and the head unit.
No looking down to pause your tunes, safer driving.
This beats the aux port 10 to 1.
I use to use the aux port, will never go back after using the black box.
Totally agree and look forward to your write up on how well it works. I've held off buying this until they make this work. I am also looking forward to hiding my nano!

Since I upgraded my speakers and added an amp, the Ipod through the AUX jack sounds horrible. The base sounds like a rubber band. Thanks for keeping us posted, Corey. I spoke to Dice last week and the woman added me to her email list. Said she would notify me when the devices were ready to go. Hope yours works.
