Re: iPod connected directly to FJ Jammer - Installation Instructions

You are welcome.
I will run it through its paces once it is installed.

I hope it can scroll the song name if it is long, but I doubt it.
I burned a pure MP3 CD before I got the DICE unit, and the text only showed part of the song if it was a long name, no scrolling.

Maybe the DICE will react different.

Re: iPod connected directly to FJ Jammer - Installation Instructions

I ordered one from icarkits 11 days ago, and paid for 3 day shipping, No unit yet.

So I emailed them Weds. with an inquiry. They responded that Dice had recalled all of those units to do a software update. My upgraded unit will ship ASAP.

I intend to call Dice when I receive it, and confirm it's the upgraded FJC version. Then installation is re-scheduled for next Friday.

Re: iPod connected directly to FJ Jammer - Installation Instructions

Sandy, are you going to install it?
It really is easy!

The FJ has one of the most friendliest dashes, I was impressed how well it went.

Nope, I'm swapping out 6 speakers, and adding the amp and iPod adapter. A local shop is doing it for me.

Ahhhh, I gotta do the speaker swap later too.
Then next year an Alpine W200.

But I think new speakers will really wake up the stock FJammer some.

Re: iPod connected directly to FJ Jammer - Installation Instructions

I find with most of the tunes on the iPod I do not need to go over 45.
Most of the time I can "get into it" with the volume at 42, and it sounds pretty decent, even with the crap stock speakers.

I have the bass and treble set the same for both the iPod and FM.
Bass = 4
Treble = 5

With better speakers I am sure the bass can come down some.

Re: iPod connected directly to FJ Jammer - Installation Instructions

Updated my article just now.
http://yotatech.com/showthread.php?t=93882
You will see no replies to any of the tech there, I have it set so no one can reply to any of the write-ups, thus keeping the tech write-up section clean from extra chatter.

Moved the black box to the glove box.
I only had to take the dash apart to right where you see the head unit.
Did not have to unbolt it.

Reached up behind the head unit and pulled out the box, disconnected the two cables on it, and pulled the thick wire to the harness in behind the glove box and into it.

Hooked back up the harness from the head unit to the DICE, and then the data cable, then hooked back up to the iPod.
Fired up the head unit and switched to CD1, and the music played.

You can be sure as soon as the new one arrives I will drop everything I am doing and rush out to the rig and swap boxes in about 10 seconds.
Glad the weather is holding here so I could get this done today, as it is expected to rain in my garage for the next few days.

Whether the new box displays text for the song or not, I will let you know ASAP so you can place your orders if the text for the song works.

Question Re: iPod connected directly to FJ Jammer - Installation Instructions

Anyone know if this Dice unit will work with the regular single disk head unit (non-fjammer)? It has a cd changer port...

If it's got a changer port, then the iCar2go kit should work. But I'd confirm before purchasing.
