Talking What is the BEST ALARM SYSTEM for the FJ ?

Thinking about which alarm The FJ should have, Toyota's alarm VIP doesn't seem to have must too it for $600, is the Clifford alarm system better?

Got $50.00? I'll send you a full size photo of my X-Wife.
Sit that B!tch in your front seat and sweep the dis-embodied eyeballs up when you go outside.

For $75. i'll include a tape recording of her voice to round out the punishment.

You will not get a defnite answer from this forum....I have VIP installed from the factory. So if something goes wrong there is no finger pointing operations going on....

Planet Toyota is in a south suburb of Chicago and their service depart. stated a $600 cost to install the VIP alarm system. I'm trying to find a good alarm system that doesn't cost anywhere near that.

Thats pretty steep..Check at the TRDSOURCE how much it cost then you can figure out how much they charge you for labor. That is ridiculous....

Re: What is the BEST ALARM SYSTEM for the FJ ?

Here is a little write up on car alarms I found. This guy appears to know what he is talking about.

http://www.vsracing.net/~suspended/

I am researching various alarm systems and so far from all reports the Clifford G5 series has the best overall opinions from people who know alarms.

The Clifford Avantguard G5 is the one I will be putting into my FJ when i get it. Less bells and whistles but more solid security that most. Add a wireless immobilizer and a few other complications and it will be pretty good.

edit> The alarm is only as good as the install so unfortunately a good install will be very labor intensive, ie. expensive. The VIP shouldn’t be that much though, it is mostly plug and play. There are directions available that spell the whole thing out on that reference document site for a DIY.

I use the .40 cal GLOCK model 22. Seams to deter ALL kinds of problems.

For something a bit less lethal you should look into the DEI line, or Viper as they are well known as. You should be able to get a basic unit installed for around $200.
