Re: Bass blockers? Should they be used in the dash/rear?

Not sure what else you are running, but as a rule of thumb. If you are running amps you will not need bass blockers because you can use the crossovers on the amp to control the lows going to the speakers. You can use a high pass filter for it.
If you are using the factory radio, i would recomend bass blockers for speakers 5" and smaller. Putting bass blockers on 6" and largers will actually remove usable frequencies.
Of course common sense and not playing speakers to the point of distortion will help them stay in good shape and not blow.
The plan is to use a 4-channel amp for the Focal 6x9s in the doors + bridged for an amp. A 300-400w amp more than enough for me. Then, the aftermarket head unit would power the 3.5s in front, 4.0 in the back (with the Bass Blockers).

I am FAR from a stereo expert, don't claim to be one....

Noisy, be careful with the choice of subs you use with the amp. You will find that the amp probably only puts out about 200watts for the bass. This is not enough to properly push a new type R subwoofer, that will really run much better with 400-500watts. It will be a little underpowered running off a 5th chan. I would go with a W3 as a good alternative, a little less output, about the same price, and runs like a champ at 150-200watts.
Thanks for the advice on that. The W3 is like the Alpine X right? A monster-- deep throw woofer? I guess if I just go for a floor mount box ... was kind of hoping to put a woofer up where the stocker goes, and that limits options to a 'smaller' 10" sub.

I guess I want to shop for a used 4-channel amp. I am not going to go with a 500/1 or so just to feed a sub; just not into the hard core pounding - but need more than that wimpy 8" stocker.

In my F150, things were a lot easier - just buy a Thunderform w/ 2 MTXs with a built-in amp and stick it in there in an hour.

>> Spent some time on Ebay tonight ... subwoofer shopping ... confusing stuff ... some $19 POS looks as good as a $500 unit to me ... I guess a 10" sub in a plain, black floor box would be nice ... if the boxes that mount up in the stock location are $500+ just for the box..
