New Stereo, FJC still apart, day three

Yesterday was day three...

Got the #4 Power distribution wire landed to fuse box....

New 100 Amp fuse to protect the wire.

Drilled a new hole thru firewall, about 2-3" below where the stock wiring goes thru firewall...........and added a plastic grommet to protect the wire from rubbing the sharp edge. Also ran a #18 pair to power up my CB.

Got some of the wiring cleaned up...

Installed the driver's rear 5.25" and tweeter. Again, mounted crossover unit behind the panel exactly the same as day two's install.

Now most wiring is ran. But how am I going to mount the amp???

I thought of screwing right thru the floor, but then I got a better idea.........cut some plywood and glue it to the floor! Off to the hardware store to buy some liquid nails and 10 minute epoxy.

Used some spare batterys to hold it in place while the epoxy set. I also used a ton of construction adhedsive....15 minutes later, they were pretty well secured!

Now its time for the floor to go back in...

And cutout for new power distrubution block and ground block, under passenger seat.

Final pic of fuse and ground blocks mounted and wired.

Now cutout for amp wiring. I SHOULD have notched the block of wood, so that I could have gotten the wires more closer to the amp, as you see in the finished pics...I could have totally hidden those wires. Not a big deal, but it would have looked a little nicer, IMO.

And of course, I had to give myself and angry salute...

And finally, temporarily hooked up my Infinity Basslink 10" self-powered sub to hear it all...

Sound is amazing. I still have not recieved my Polk 6x9's for the front doors...but I did run new wire to the general area...once those speakers arrive, it should be a really easy job to replace them out.

This amp is a 400w-4 channel amp (100w per channel). That will power up the new 5.25" seperates in the rear seat area, as well as the 6x9's replacing the factory door speakers.

All 4" speakers (dash and rear pillar) are powered from the head unit, and currently there are no 'bass blockers' on them....I need to go to Fry's this morning and get those, I wlll add them behind the radio itself so that I dont have to tear apart the rear panels again.

Today, I should have the interior all back together, except for the stock subwoofer location. I will sell my stock sub, and buy new trim to finish off that area.

I also hope to mount my cb as shown in a previous post....It is the Cobra 75, and I will also add the 2nd 12v plug in the console as well.

I dont have the correct dash trim pieces....So I guess I need to get the crutchfield dash kit, and modify it a bit....

A huge effort, very nicely done I will add. I am certain that you and friends will enjoy this for a long time. it probably would have cost you 750.00 in labor if you had not done it yourself. Fabulous........

Andy can u please tell me where the bolt in the center of where the rear seat sits, is connected to? Since you have it apart , I was wondering if it just holds down the plastic or if it would make a string anchor for a tie down.

Re: New Stereo, FJC still apart, day three

Andy, do you think there is enough room behind the rear panels where you mounted the crossovers (but more towards the rear) for an amplifier. I was thinking there might be if it was mounted vertically near the location of the factory subwoofer or by the C Pillar. Might have to mount a couple of wood strips to mount to though. What do you think, being that you had the panel out?
