3" lift + 1" body lift????

I searched the forums for an answer to this but didnt really find what i was wanting to know..

I want to install a 3" suspension lift with a 1" body lift. I dont want to go to the extreme of a 6" but I want more than 3".. I cant find anybody that makes a 4", 4.5" or 5" lift kit for the FJ.

so... question.. is this a frowned upon setup? I dont do any crazy offroading.. mainly city driving and want the look but if i happen to jump off road for a minute i want it to be somewhat practical.

any advice for someone who has researched this or has experience with this?

Thanks in advance.

Re: 3" lift + 1" body lift????

A couple of people have done this. WiKid comes to mind. Some do it for additional clearance for larger tires (35") and others for more height. It does leave a gap over the bumpers and requires you to cut the fan shroud (spelling?) to allow the fan to rotate lower. Most say the 1" it the most to go since the gap between the bumpers/ frame starts to get very noticable.

Ive got the Toytec set up but havent installed it yet due to being out of the country. Looking for additional room for the 315/75R16 tires going on my rig. Already have a 3" SAW coilover lift w/ TC UCA's

Re: 3" lift + 1" body lift????

Re: 3" lift + 1" body lift????

I run a 3" lift with 1" body lift. With the body lift extended bump stops are not needed with larger tires:

Re: 3" lift + 1" body lift????

3" Overland/ Radflo suspension and Toytec 1" body lift. No need to cut the fan shroud. I fabbed up some drop brackets for the radiator (Toytec may offer them in the kit. you will have to check. I do have a space above my front Road Armor bumper, but have come up with a solution (parts on order) Radflo sent extended bump stops that are about 1.5 inches. With the body lift I was able to shave off almost 3/4 of an inch becuase of the body lift, without rubbing anywhere.
The height is exaggerated in the back due to not having any weight in the back at all. no interior, no rear bumper, frig, battery etc. That settles out to almost level, with stuff in it.

Bumper gap will be gone soon

thanks
Don

Re: 3" lift + 1" body lift????

Thanks guys for the info.. I appreciate it. It seems like this is my route to take to achieve what i want. I want more than 3" but less than 6". This may be my answer.

Thanks again!

Re: 3" lift + 1" body lift????

I'm doing this in the spring... Then getting 35's.

Anyone know of any issues with the 6mt? I'm worried about the shifter linkage.

Re: 3" lift + 1" body lift????

I too plan on going with 35" and the 1" toytec lift in the spring.

Wikid, posts of your bumper gap solution will be very appreciated if you share it with detailed pics, I assume you will.
BTW Your FJ Rocks, even though you are a traitor to the Sun Fusion, forgiveable though, as your white FJ will always be yellow on the inside . Like behind all the plastic.

Re: 3" lift + 1" body lift????

Thank you
I may keep some of the yellow as a garnish for Wikid. I am trying to decide if the skids, rear links and shock guards will just be repainted Sun Fusion Yellow, to keep a little of her, original heritage. I ponder this, every time I give the beer back, that I rent
thanks
Don

Re: 3" lift + 1" body lift????

A nice 2" Long Arm Kit will get you 4" of height.
