Apologies if this has been discussed before but a quick search didn't help me. The UCAs I'm installing call for "NLGi #2 , Grade LB with 3%-5% Molybdenum Disulfide grease". I drove down to the nearest parts store (O'Reillys) and picked up some generic-looking grease which was labelled as "NLGi #2 ", "Lithium Base", and "moderate EP protection". In the interest of brevity: should I or should I not use this grease? It says nothing about Molybdenum Disulfide.
I have light racing uca's and did not put any grease on them upon install. I have around 100k on them now, with no problems (except torn sleeves). If they are newly installed I would not even worry about the grease. But if you decide to use it anyways I cant imagine it would hurt anything. Grease is grease for the most part. Some of it is affected by heat and will wear away quicker than others, requiring a more frequent greasing.
My control arms came with a packet of grease do chech your packaging for it unless you bought used. Definitely grease the bushings before the install because they could begin to squeak if you don't. The grease you have should be fine but that's my humble opinion. SPC has a tech-line give them a call for piece of mind.
Thank you both for the replies. I greased the bushings very heavily with the supplied grease packets but i wasn't sure how specific the requirements were for greasing the balljoint itself. I guess as long as its grease its ok.

The ball joints are greased at the factory They use some sort of Teflon style socket for the ball and that's why there are no grease fittings for the ball joints.
I just installed Light Racing UCAs a couple months ago and they have grease fittings now for the ball joints. The instructions say to lubricate them every 5,000 miles, or once after every trip off road if there is heavy dust.
The grease you would need to use for your application is 'red' in color, high temp and high pressure. The white grease pictured above is for light duty use.
I'm glad I read this before filling them with the white grease.. Do I need to get it online? The local parts store I went to didn't have anything like that if my memory serves me correctly. Thanks
20k miles? U mean from the ball joints or did they just break? I have about the same and was told to order new ball joints...wondering if it's normal. 20k seems like a really short life span
The people at SPC really don't seem to know much, but they may know what kind of grease you should use or have a recommended brand. I would give them a call.
