Question Novice ? : Lift vs. Leveling Kits....

I've been around here a while and have read threads about Lift Kits and threads about Leveling kits. Just wondering what the difference between the two was. Afterall, the FJ looks pretty level to me.

FJ has a slight rake to it the front sits lower. Leveling kit is really just a small spacer to get the front even with the rear. Lift kits are all the way around, you will notice some people putting lift all the way around with a little extra in front to level at the same time.

Another thing to consider is that with a lift kit you are increasing the effective suspension (performance/utility) whereas with a leveling kit you are doing only that...leveling. BIG difference between the two. Dont bother with the leveling kits IMHO.

What he means to say is don't bother w/ leveling kits if you are serious about improving your FJ's OR capabilities. If you don't want to spend alot of coin and just want to level the rig and put 285's on you can save yourself some sweet moolah. You'll still be able to enjoy the stock abilities of the FJ's suspension for some pretty decent recreation. Coilovers and full susp. lifts offer the best of everything hardcore and allow for adjustments needed to accomodate heavier winch bumpers.
