Lift

Clemson 4 wheel drive center quoted me a price of $1000 for a 3" OME lift including OME shocks springs and labor. Is this a good price?

Re: Lift

The OME kits retail for about $650, so they are adding $350 for labor. If an alignment is included then it's an OK deal. If you figure a shop rate of $85-95/hr they are estimating 4 hours for the install which is about right if this is there first OME/FJ install. Most places can get it done in about 2-3 hours with some experience. If the alignment is not included in the $1k, then I would get them to throw it in at the same price.

Just remember, in the end it's not about how much you save on the install, it's about how satisfied you are with the installer and their ability to do a QUALITY job. The other thing to remember is choose place that will stand behind their work. Fighting with a shop over warranty work is a PITA, so choose a shop wisely. Good luck!

Re: Lift

You can buy the OME front and rear systems for around 625$ to 700$ depending on where you buy. You have probably 50 bucks freight also. So they are asking 300$ to 350$ for the install.
That's not too bad for a price. I would say go for it if you can't do the install yourself. Make them do an alignment for that price too.

Re: Lift

I second that motion. If you can do it yourself, you'll save a lot of money. $250.00 - $300.00. It's a pretty straight forward job. You can take it to someone for an alignment afterwards for about $50.00 - $60.00 and be styling!
