Front Left Shock went bad

I had the local Toyota dealer install the RevTek lift.
Got to hearing a weird repetitive squeaking noise, it became obnoxious, so I dropped it at the dealer today telling them that I thought it was the shock.
Sure enough, it was, they kept my FJ (and tried to give a Yaris, NOT for me!), so they gave me a Camry and told me to come back in 2 days.

Anybody else have a shock go bad, result of one of the spacer lifts?

Re: Front Left Shock went bad

This will definitely happen when you pre-load the suspension with a spacer lift. The increase pressure makes the shock operate outside the specified limits of it's design.

Glad you are getting taken care of by the dealer though.

I have always heard bad things about spacer lifts.

You can replace the shocks, usually solves that problem.

But I agree.

Spacer Shock Syndrome (SSS). Your results may vary. Luckily OME, Toytec, Donahoe, and All-Pro can help! Dont suffer SSS anymore. Get on the horn and get a system today.

Re: Front Left Shock went bad

Update!!

The upper shock mount (they called it a strut mount) was also broken.
I wish I had gotten the Rough Country lift instead.

I think the rear spacers are probably fine, but I will upgrade the front suspension at some point, probably when the next shock goes bad...
