*Body Lift* --Info needed

Do any companies make a SMALL body lift. I'm looking for no more than 1/2" to 1". I know big 3" body lifts come with a shopping list of problems, but would this be the same for a small body lift.

I understand that they are going to be a number of questions about why so small or why at all. Let me just say that it is necessary to take care of another problem. So just looking for info if they exist and will there possibly be any ill side effects.

Thanks a bunch.

Kevin

Contact Roger Brown at 4Crawler.com main page , he pretty much has made bodylifts for al Toyota for a very long time. He has made BL kits for the newest 4Runner as well, which is pretty much the base for the FJC anyway.

Nothing wrong with a small body lift/tuck like these (1" BL's that is). In fact, it may just turn out to be the godsend for alot of us in the future for getting things "just so".
Its when you get over 1" that things start having issues...

x3 on the problems. I got a 3" body lift on my old YJ. I was by far the worst thing I have ever done to a vehicle.

Re: *Body Lift* --Info needed

A BIG body lift can wreak havoc on your linkage (transmission/xfer case), can bend body supports, can (and probably will) punch through your cab over time, etc...not good things. A 1" doesnt deal with the stressors like a 2-3" will so its not such an issue. It also allows your CG to stay a little lower.

2-3" also looks like hell while a 1" is hardly if at all noticable

Since it raised the body off of the frame, it messed up the shifter and the steering colum. The steering colum is supposed to slide a bit when you do this I guess, but the colum was rusted and didn't budge, so my steering wheel was jammed into the colum for a while and wouldn't turn freely until I figured out the problem, had to get a new steering linkage. It also made the shifter lower, making it feel like shifting a small transfer case shifter. And the guy that installed it for me is a friend and a painter and did stuff like this on the side, he wasn't knowledgeable in this stuff. Because he didn't know diddly squat about this kind of lift, he didn't install a new brake hose, therefore, making my brakes inoperable. It was nightmare. When I was driving it back home and noticed all of these problems, I thought I had made the biggest mistake in the world. I was young at the time and didn't even know what I was getting into. My Jeep had already come with a 4" suspension lift when I bought it, I just wanted more. I wasn't trying to tuck 37"s or anything, therefore needing the extra lift, I just wanted it taller. I didn't know what I was getting into. 1" body lift is prolly fine, anything bigger than that, you are asking for trouble.

Re: *Body Lift* --Info needed

The biggest BL that Roger will make for the 4runner is 1.5", normally 1, 1 1/4" or 1 1/2" is what he makes. I believe that will be the same case for the FJC. I don't think any of the issues mentioned above will be a big deal with a small lift like that. Lots of guys have been running hard with a small BL on the 4Runner or Taco with no issues, and the layout of the 4R is pretty much the same as the FJC.

This is a rather profound statement...because of my naivety on offroading. Does this hold true for all the FJ's that are being lifted in this forum? Are you saying that the integrity of the vehicle is being compromised by lifting? I should search...but, are the factory warranties being voided by these after market lifts?
