Question Need to balance her out!

OK all you suspension gurus...

I don't really want a lift or anything on my FJ...I really just want to balance out the front end to the rear (get rid of the rake).

So how should I do it?

Thanks!

Re: Need to balance her out!

Aside from letting the air out of the back tires, you will probably need to put a leveling spacer up front. There are several companies that make them. They don't cost much. Or you can spend a lot bigger bucks on coil overs and adjust the settings so that it sits level. Someone else here may have some other idea, but that's about the only op-tions that I can think of.

Re: Need to balance her out!

Thanks for the info 20!

Any ideas on where to find said spacers at?

+1

Doug can supply OME 883 springs which will raise the front about 1-1/2" and improve the ride. That's what I did (on Doug's advice) to mine.

Sorry, I don't much about lifts either. Can you tell me about the issue that you are having? What is the "rake"?

Re: Need to balance her out!

By "rake" he's referring to the fact that the front of the FJ sits slightly lower than the rear.

I'm in sort of the same boat--I want to level out the front and likely fit 285/70-17 tires. I might add a bumper and winch in a couple years as well.

I'm leaning toward coilovers in front so I can adjust as needed. I don't think I need/want a full lift--I think 285's should fit fit fine in the rear and I really can't afford to lose a full 3" of parking garage clearance!

Thanks, Is the "rake" something that is associated with all FJ's or is it an AT vs MT thing or because perhaps it was just built that way?

Tks

Its the way they were built. As are most all new vehicles.
