Any better rear shocks for a non-lifted FJ?

I'm looking for some rear shocks for a non-lifted FJ.

I've got Light Racing adjustable coil overs (DRs) up front leveling the truck but am not adding a rear lift at this time (no garage clearance). The coil overs up fron have am amazing ride but I notice the back feels kind of bouncy and maybe a little soft. It's not huge deal but I can notice the difference front to rear.

I know that TRD has some 'upgraded' rear shocks out. Are they worth it? Does anyone know of any after market rear shocks that might offer a firmer ride? Has anyone heard when Bilstein will be coming out with FJ shocks?

Thanks in advance.

The OME 141 and 142 are not much longer than the stock shocks. They will be firmer than the stock shocks. The 141s are probably a better bet.

Just another option.

Yeah, but I thought I read someplace that Bilstein would be offering a shock without the TRD logo (the TRD logo seems to be pricey).

Check into the Donahoe Racing shocks in the rear to match your front DR coilovers. That will give you the best ride overall. Call Donahoe to confirm this, but I'm almost positive that you could use their rears in a stock height setup.

Re: Any better rear shocks for a non-lifted FJ?

My experience has been over the years with several other vehicles that the Bilstein was much firmer than OEM, while the OME's were better without being firmer.
I do not know whether that has carried over to the products made for the FJ.

This is a concern but you already dropped over a grand on coilovers? I must be missing something here...

Less than a grand, got a discount. But I spent money on the front because that's where I feel you get the most benifit. I don't have a problem spending $220 on the rear TRDs if they're worth it but I have heard conflicting things about shocks with TRD stickers on them - they may be great I just have no experience with them. Anyway after spending $$$ for the front that's left me poor for now. In any event I'd like to get something that will last and is a better match for the front.
