Who would buy a front swaybar disconnect?

The front sway is a big inhibitor to the amount of flex you can get out of the IFS setup. To me, it seems that it's stiff enough that it "dictates" the pitch of the body, giving the back a pretty hard time going over/through some obstacles.

Who here would pay for a quick disconnect system to keep the best of both worlds: on road civility, and off road flexability? It'd be nice if some vendors would step up to the plate.

Re: Who would buy a front swaybar disconnect?

if no one would offer to make a quick disconnect, would there be a way to retrofit a rubicon disconnect?

Not sure what this means. The sway bars are connnected with one bolt on each side. How does a disconnect make this simpler?

Ok, If were really going to get serious about this then Waskywabbit, whatever you build has to be able to allow for clean, non catch attachment and easy removal for those of us that have aftermarket skids like manafre, budbuilt, etc. IF YOU BUILD IT THEY WILL COME TRUST ME...........

Re: Who would buy a front swaybar disconnect?

The front swaybar disconnect is no easy task. The swaybar itself will hit the CV boots once disconnected and there is not enough space to swing it out of the way. ALso the swaybar itself has a bend in it on the front "loop", which means you can't use a Rubicon or Powerwagon disconnect. To make it work a new swaybar will have to be made that has a straight torsion segment on the front.

Either way, if somebody can figure out an elegant solution for this problem there will be many buyers in the long run.

Re: Who would buy a front swaybar disconnect?

yes everyone would come screaming for it
problem is, no one has been able to make a quick disconnect system that stores the swaybar and bracketry out of the way of the suspension yet. the major factor here is not a disconnecting means, it is a means to keep it from fouling the suspension.

A swaybar disconnect, or at least the swaybar disconnect that i'm thinking of, is a little mechanism mounted on the swaybar that can detatch it to let it rotate, as on the rubicon. i went to the la auto show today and snapped a couple pictures of the rubicons front setup and i'll post it up when i get the photos uploaded.

the reason we couldn't do a nice cheap little endlink type disconnect is because of the problems previously mentioned (interference with other susp components).

i'll post up some pics of the rubicons front setup when i get the chance.
