One question, Is the Donahoe Kit that much better????
Its really a matter of personal pref. (oh, and how much $$ you have burning a hole in your pocket)

Donahoe makes some really mean stuff, but according to the TTORA guys who have them, they are engineered more toward high speed desert driving, than, say, Sway-A-Way, or FabTech, or OME.
This just means that for mud, the occasional offroad trip, etc, they are the ulimate overkill. Not to say thats a bad thing.
The same goes for SAW's and Camburg Control arms. Casual offroaders wont need the extra strength built into this stuff, but its really cool to have. Any hey, you might want to drive over a mountain on the way to work one day.

The old addage, "Speed costs money. How fast do you wanna go?" certainly applies with offroad suspension mods too.

So, how big do you wanna go?

Don't forget, the beauty of the adjustable coilover is that you can do your mods in steps. You can level out the truck and gain a nice little bit of extra clearance under the front skidplate and then get the rear lift later and then crank up the front to level it out again. Add tires at any point. The coilovers are a good way to go for a first mod...then just build on that. This is all my own crazy opinion of course. I wouldn't want to spend $500 on spacers and then spend another $1500 on a full lift. That's 2K for a $1500 lift...in the end.

Re: Complete list and Comparison of Lift kits there all here!

What if a spacer lift was all most people needed for light trails. Don't forget the FJ did the Rubicon without a lift! I doubt most people here would ever even come close to the Rubicon (trail) in their FJ.

What if the Revtek kit didnot suck as much as some are saying? Does anyone have real world experience as far as added stress to suspenision components b/c of Revtek's spacer kit?

So if I'm only doing light trails, why get a spacer lift anyway? Cause I like the look. And no, that doesn't make me a poser. I like the extra ground clearance, even if it's light trails. It should also afford 3 more inches of water fording. I like the look of bigger tires. It's not just about fxn for me. Aesthetics plays an important role as well.

So I'm thinking about getting the Revtek kit. Can anyone back up the negative claims. Are they real or not. Explain it to me please.

Dealer Installation, I just got off the phone with Burt as my FJ is scheduled to arrive tomorrow, they will install my Donahoe Coilovers Front and OME Shocks and Springs in the rear prior to me picking it up. I am going to drop them off now.

So no warranty problems they said.

I am going to try and go with the Rock Crawler 97 series in a 16 inch rib with the Mickey Thompson MTZ if the rims will not work then staying with the stock 17's with the same tires. 80 dollar restocking fee if the rims don't work.
I am going with the Old Man Emu springs and shocks for the rear Sleeoffroad has the rears in stock, if they don't I have the spacers from allpro offroad as a temp fix until Donahue comes out with the rears.

Re: Complete list and Comparison of Lift kits there all here!

This maybe a stupid question because I have seen it posted before, but wasnt able to find it in a search...Which other toyota vehicle does the FJ share its suspension with? 4runner, Tacoma, Prado suspensions? Are any interchangeable with the FJ?

The reason I ask is that I noticed ProComp has a 5inch lift for the Tacoma and the 4runners and wondered why no one has ever mentioned them for the FJ.

The FJC is based on the Prado Platform. Other sharing the platform are the 2005+ Tacoma and the 2003+ 4Runner. The Tacoma shares the front similarities, the rear is leaf sprung.

The drop-bracket kits will not interchange due to frame differences. They require removal of a crossmember and replacing it with a drop-down crossmember to lower the control arms and accommodate an extended spindle.

Re: Complete list and Comparison of Lift kits there all here!

So I've been shopping around for a Revtek kit and installer. I just checked my voicemail and my contact from Les Schwabs Tire co. tells me that their Tuff Kountry rep says that they are about 2 wks out from having a kit for the FJ Cruiser. and It will be about 1/2 the price of the Revtek kit! Is this guy full of sh!t or what? Can anyone verify this.

This is the same guy that told me they can install the Revtek kit for $850. Yeah right, when others can do it for $650-$680. I called back but he was out, so I'll have to talk to him later and post the info.

Re: Complete list and Comparison of Lift kits there all here!

So I called up Tuff Kountry and spoke with Jeff. They just got an FJC to play with today. Any lift kit won't be available for 60-90days. He also couldn't tell me if it would be a suspension lift or a spacer lift. A lot of help!
