i have both.

i had to pull the OME to make room for a parking garage.

the 883s are the way the fjc should come from the factory.

with that said, a 'lifted' fj with OME behaves more or less stock, as does the 883s.

there's less body roll, and that's what you really benefit from. but the ride can get harsh off road.

my 883s actually give the truck a reversed rake, because i've squashed ALL of my rear springs with towing.
How bad is the reverse rake? Any pics?

the back end is about .5'' lower than the front.

but that won't happen if you haven't been towing a lot.

And you suspect towing as the cause? What kind of tongue weight on your trailer?

I wonder if adding a pair of bags back there would do the trick?

I just ordered a set of 883s, but now I started thinking maybe I should have went ahead and did the complete lift. I don't do a lot of serious offroading, so its not like I need a complete lift, I just think it looks more bad ass. I know I will like the improved look the 883s give it, but I fear its going to have me wanting more.

I have 285 BFG ATs on already, and they are pretty stuffed in there with the stock suspension. I think with the 285s, the 883s will open up the front wheel wells some, but it won't have the same effect as with a stock size tire. I feel to get a "lifted" look, I will have to go with an all around lift.

Any input or advice would be appreciated.

Also, I am guestimating that the 883 will cost me around $300 for parts and install, whereas the complete lift would be in the range of $800-900 for parts and install. Is this about right?
Get the full 3" lift! You will be wishing you did. After you install the 883s you will be happy, until you see a FJ with a 3" lift in the parking lot or on the road. I am very pleased with my Toytec lift and do not have to deal with "lift envy"!
