Question Adjusting front coilover height...easiest way

Hi all. I've got the Fox coilovers and I was hoping someone could post some details as to the fastest, easiest way of adjust the height. I jacked up the front of the vehicle and the stock UCA was in the way of the collar so I couldn't get the wrench to i. Common sense said to jack up the rotor with a second jack but that puts alot of pressure on the shock, making it very tough to turn the collar down. I'm a big noob when it comes to this stuff.

Also, does anyone know what the affect will be on the alignment after, say, eaising the front up about 1-1/2 inches approx?

I'll post a picture of the front coilover later if it will help but it's pretty standard stuff. I received the wrenches with them.

Thanks!

OK here's a good pic of the coilover I lifted from another thread (attached).

Sorry I got no answer for you. But just wanted to know how the ride is with the Fox suspensions. How is the range of stiffness adjustment? Good body roll control? Too stiff, or too soft, or just right? Thx.

Well, I'll be honest, I'm no expert as I have no real prior experience with suspension lifts. However, the ride is definitely nicer than the stock suspension. On the lowest setting it's soft and comfortable, at a medium setting it feels firm and seems to handle well with minimal body roll as far as I can tell, but I've only been street driving so far. I hope to get it on the dirt within the next couple of weeks though and see how it handles in trail conditions.

OK roller8. Keep me posted on how you like them.
Regarding your question, have you tried asking Terry or Mike at All-Pro?

Re: Adjusting front coilover height...easiest way

OK, I don't have the Fox suspension instead i have the WE lift. But i think this applies for the Fox also. What I had to do was to remove the ball joint bolt then move the upper control up and out of the way to have an easier access to get to the adjusting collar.

Hope this helps!

Re: Adjusting front coilover height...easiest way

I wish AP would have used a spanner style nut instead of a smooth adjuster nut with 4 holes. The wrench design only worked for cranking down the right (passenger) side. I used a drill bit on the drivers side. I ended up getting Harbor Freights hydraulic spring compressor for next time.

Re: Adjusting front coilover height...easiest way

I just installed the Fox coilovers and I ran into the same problem. What I did was to grind the wrench down so it will fit on the drivers side, it still hits the UCA but it works. The easiest way would be like toytaco said and remove the ball joint to get the control arm out of the way. Make sure that there is no presure on the coil. If you don't remove the ball joint make sure that you put a rag or something between the wrench and the UCA so you don't scratch the UCA. Its alot of work but well worth it.

Also look at where I installed the Res. it keeps it cooler and will not bang on the fender.
