ome lift with blown front shocks?

Hi guys, so after two offroad outings with the toytec ome med front coils with spacer and rear coils with nitro shocks, my front stock shocks are blown, should this be expected? I wasn't too hard on the suspension, it was only fully articulated for a couple parts of the trails. On the freeway on the way back, i noticed because the front end would just bounce up and down a couple times with every bump like it had hydraulics or something. Any ideas why the factory shocks would already be blown out, the fj has 9k miles on it only and it was fine before the trail run. and also what would be a good cheap recommendation for new front shocks? Thanks for the advice in advance guys.

and the mods keep coming....and my wallet keeps crying..

Do you mean .5" instead of mm re spacer? Was the spacer on the drivers side only for gas/battery leveling or both sides? My first thought is over-extension from the the spacer-as far as I know, OME's are designed to be used w/o a spacer. Just my thoughts.

Yes, I would expect it. As I've ranted on other threads, the OME coils are not designed to be used with factory struts, and definitely not in conjunction with spacers...puts way too much stress on the original shock, and shouldn't take long til they weaken or blow out. I suggest you get a set of OME struts to match those coils (as OME states in their application guide - OME coils are designed to work with OME struts ...) You'll improve the ride quality, handling, and off road strength...And you won't blow out shocks after 2 outings...

Not trying to be a putz, but you've already had problems doing it the "cheap" way - procomp shocks are the bottom of the barrel as far as quality and reliability (do they even have a strut for the FJC ?)- stick with the OME's - you'll be glad you did. The OME coils and struts are tuned for each other - any other combo will likely cause the same result you have now...

X2!! Anytime you start playing "mix and match" on something as important as your suspension (just for the sake of saving a few dollars), you're asking for problems.

That is very odd. We had stock shocks on Don's fj with 884s here for over a year with no problems, and he was off road every weekend. There are HUNDREDS here using the stock shocks with the OME 883 and 884 coils.
The OME shocks are definately the best shock to use with the coils if you need to replace them though.
Give us a call, I will give you an extra discount plus the FJcruiserforums discount on a set for you.
