Limit straps--question

Whats up all, tried to find this by searching but came up with nothing.

I wheeled this weekend sans swaybar and it was incredible...but I know that with increased droop I increase my likelyhood to sustain CV damage.

I'd like to install limiting straps, but am unsure of installation procedure, and most importantly which strap length/manufacturer to go with.

I'd appreciate any insight you could provide! Thanks!

Re: Limit straps--question

Most would advise to measure the droop with the swaybar on then replicate that limit with a strap. I'm in the process of doing the same and when I find some suitable solutions, I'll be sure to post up what I have come up with.

Sorry for the lack of details, I'm still in the research phase and will benefit from your question also...

I'm in the same boat - planning to do this soon, but not able to offer anything scholarly at this point. I'll let you know how it goes though!

Re: Limit straps--question

Like mentioned in the post above measure your drop with the sway bar in as that is going to be your limit. It might even be easier if you kept the sway bar in while you installed your straps.

As for installing the strap(s) I will give you two diffrent ways

For the green line use the lower shock mount bolt as the lower attachment of the strap. Then drill a hole in the coil over bucket to use as a mounting point for the top of the strap.

For the red line the lower portion of the strap would be the same as the green line. For the upper part though you would weld this piece on to the frame

then this would go thru the welded on bracket

would look like this in the end

Going with the red line you will be able to fine tune your straps.

As for straps there are lots of good company's to go with call ORW or Kartek for all of this stuff and they will help you out. Also to let you know when getting straps you need to know that they stretch about 1" for every 12" this will very depending on the straps so you need to talk to your salesmen.

Re: Limit straps--question

Why not just create a bump stop... on second thought, the limiting strap may be easiest
