OME Lift - Question on Options

I am looking to put the OME lift on, and I was planning on going with the medium duty setup, but have heard the rear medium duty springs are too stiff. Does anyone see any issues going medium duty up front and light duty in the rear?

Appreciate any insight. Thanks.

Re: OME Lift - Question on Options

You could try the Toytec rear custom springs. Get lift, and keep the factory feel.

Re: OME Lift - Question on Options

I believe the rule of thumb here is:
Light = Running Pure stock
Medium = Running most aftermarket bumpers
Heavy = Really heavy aftermarket bumper and extra gear

I have a heavy which is rated for about 400 lbs. The fabfours bumper is 180 lbs of it so load with my gear it runs nice. No gear it is a little stiff but I am use to stiff rides in sports cars so it was no big deal to me.

Do the front and rear have to match?

Re: OME Lift - Question on Options

No, I had the choice of mix/match. I decided that the fabfours rear bumper that I wanted to run was going to be so heavy that I chose to go HD/HD but I could have gone HD/MD. Which would have made it more of a factory ride. It all depends what your use is going to be..

EDIT: "Which would have made it more of a factory ride." for the weight I am running on a daily basis.

Re: OME Lift - Question on Options

I have the heavy up front and medium in back. Rides fine. Have the ARB bull bar up front. The guys at 4wheel parts showed me the book and ARB doesn't have the heavy front and rear listed as an option. You can do it obviously, but that is if your carrying some pretty hefty gear in back.

Re: OME Lift - Question on Options

I'm using the heavy front and rear have stock bumpers and the ride is good even without a load; some time is needed to let the springs settle is all.

Re: OME Lift - Question on Options

user Wrigman is running the medium springs up front and the light springs in the rear. he is a prerunner, though, but he says it rides great and handles very well off road. pm him and ask him some questions

Re: OME Lift - Question on Options

i run med/med, and dont think its rough. i just have a grill guard on the front for now. the biggest difference i noticed was when the goodyear silent armours went on. the extra side wall plys made more of a difference in ride quality than the lift.
