Which dealers in CA install OME lifts?

Has anyone had a lift installed by a dealer in CA? Looking to keep the warranty on the factory equipment by having the work "certified" by professional Toyota mechanics. I'm open to anywhere in the whole state, but the San Jose area and San Diego area are where I'm usually located.

Re: Which dealers in CA install OME lifts?

Most dealers will have a lift installed. Having the lift installed by someone else does not void the warranty. If Toyota wants to decline a warranty repair, they have to prove the after market item was the cause of the problem.

Re: Which dealers in CA install OME lifts?

I understand the Magnussen-Moss act, but am trying to arm myself with as much support as possible. My local dealer in Monterey will install the lift, but I would be the first one they did--I don't want to be the Guinea Pig. I was hoping to find at least one other person in the forums that actually had their lift successfully done at the dealer somewhere in CA!

You wouldn't be much of a guinea pig, installing an OME lift isn't very complicated. You could do it yourself if you have the right tools.

Re: Which dealers in CA install OME lifts?

any third grader with a wrench can put on the OME kit, I wouldn't be worried at all about being the first. They are not doing anything different than if they were changing the shocks and springs on any vehicle. the only difference is the springs are stiffer therefore Lifting the truck. The mechs are all ASE certified to work there so jus do it.

Re: Which dealers in CA install OME lifts?

i hear what you guys are saying... from reading a lot of other posts, i gather how easy the kit is to install.... but... the dealer gave me the "well.... yeah, our guys can do it, but... you're better off going through DSI who does the lifts all the time... " routine. I just want to be able to say (down the road if something happens), that "hey, _____ Toyota Dealership installed the lift" and I'd rather go to a place that has done a few FJ lifts instead of one that was leary about doing it.

Piercey Toyota in San Jose has been installing OME lifts on the FJC's they are selling on their lot. I'm sure they would do one for you.

Re: Which dealers in CA install OME lifts?

The lift is relatively easy to install if you have two people, the right tools and one of the people really knows what he/she is doing. You can simply install the lift, or install it RIGHT! It isn't something you slap together in a couple hours. I wouldn't trust any dealer or shop. It's not their vehicle and they may be quick to take some "short cuts". Find a forum member who lives relatively close to you who has installed one and get it done. If I were you, I would feel much more comfortable going that route - good luck.

Re: Which dealers in CA install OME lifts?

Thanks for all the advice. I'm going to make a few calls tomorrow and see what I can get as far as install deals. I'd love to do it myself, but I don't really know what I'm doing. A certified mechanic would do a much better job than I would.
