Front not level...?

07' 11k miles
Anyone know of a common (even if rare) problem with stock FJ's concerning this?
Viewed from the front, the vehicle is not level. The drivers side is noticeably lower than the passenger side.
Measured distances from level grade:
Lower arms at lowest point: Drivers & Pass 9-3/8"
Clearance to fender flare at wheel center: Drivers 34-5/8" Pass 34" even.
Maybe some kind of shock preset or height adjustment?

Thanks in advance, Jay

Re: Front not level...?

It's the FJ sag. The gas tank, battery, and driver are on that side. Hence the sag. It's common. My FJ has a lift and the driver rear is about 1/4 to 3/8 lower than the passenger side.

Re: Front not level...?

That's a little more than 1.5" of difference!! I don't have a stock FJ anymore, so I cannot confirm this now, but I'll say that I never noticed this kind of sag on my FJ when it was in stock mode. It would be interesting to see if other FJers with stock suspension/setup also see this.

Re: Front not level...?

Known aesthetic issue. If you install an OME suspension they also have 5mm trim packers that are designed to compensate for the difference.

OME95PF5 5MM Trim Packer: For additional 1/4"-3/8" approx lift with OME front shocks and coils, installs under the coil seats on OME front struts. Designed to balance left to right variances in ride height.

Re: Front not level...?

I don't get it. Isnt it 5/8" of difference between left/right?

Re: Front not level...?

Yes, that's why some some folks are using two of the trim packers However, ARB recommends only offsetting the suspension by 5mm, so a single trim packer would then go on the passenger side. I never really noticed the lilt to begin with and now with the trim packer I still can't tell, especially with all the other mods...

Re: Front not level...?

Yes it has to do with what he said...gas tank, battery, driver. I thought I was going crazy for about 2 months, thought my tire was flat...but low and belod when I looked under the carage...theres this huge tank...what might that be I asked myself...oh yeah the gas tank. Poor design in my opinion. You put all that weight on one side...it should be evenly distributed.

Re: Front not level...?

Perhaps there was a manufacturing error. And the front springs got crossed up somehow.
The drivers side IS different than the pass side.

Re: Front not level...?

it could be that the frame is based on the prado and that is right hand drive. the 4runners are made both left and right hand drive. But, only thing that changes is the steering wheel location .

this is my guess
