Toytec Lift Kit installed - not a prob.

I upgraded from OME 883's to the Toytec FJ3-FRCC 3 inch Lift Kit. Wow, what a difference. I love it. This was the easiest lift I've ever installed....but I've only installed two others on Fords. The ugliest part was using that cheesy Spring Compressor. I was shaking like a dog crapping a peach seed. Thought for sure it was going to snap. Anyone in the Dallas area needing help with your lift kit, don't hesitate to contact me. I've got it down.

Also, anyone needing OME-883's to level your FJ, let me know.

Now to find 33" mud tires to fit these 7.5" wheels. Any suggestions?

Klaatu - reminds me of that album I bought circa 1978... Jeez, I'm gettin' old.

I installed the exact same kit. Looking at your rig I thought I was looking at mine!

I rented a spring compressor, and it was about to fall apart. So, spent $30 (less than renting the compressor, actually) and had NTB over in Lewisville do the spring assembly (on a Sunday, no less!). I would recommend giving your springs about a week to seat, then take it by the NTB and let them align it (they've got the newest Hunter alignment rack, and the guys that do the work are professionals; they know how to do alignments on lifted rigs).

As far as the tires go, I opted for the Hankook DynaPro's. Really meaty tires, I highly recommend them. I didn't get them from NTB, but got them from Discount Tire. You can probably play the two of them against each other and get them to fight for your money though...

Re: Toytec Lift Kit installed - not a prob.

Wow! I thought I was the only one who knew of the band Klaatu! I've got three of their albums...vinyl of course. It's still good listening.

I had the alignment done at Firestone. They had just updated their Hunter with the latest specs.

When I installed the first kit (OME-883's) I paid a shop $40 to change out the strut springs. I just wanted to do it myself this time around, so I purchased a spring compressor ($34) and then had to grind the snot out of it to fit between the coils. I'd feel safe to use it again...after a few beers....uh, maybe a six-pack...I think.

First thing that popped in my brain was 'Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft'. Unfortunately, all my old vinyl was stolen by a former roomate years ago, and my only Klaatu album went away.

You going to the Jamboree this weekend? I'll catch ya there. See if you can burn me a CD and bring it with you - I'll buy ya a beer...

I'll have to dig out my vinyl and see if the old turntable still spins and make some cd's. When I do I'll hook you up. As for the Jamboree, I've made other plans this weekend already.

klaatu - I installed the same lift about 15,000 miles ago and believe that you will remain as happy with it down the road as you are now. I love mine...it handles way better than it did in stock form.

Re: Toytec Lift Kit installed - not a prob.

How much lift in the front were you getting with the 883s?

Do you have any other pics of the 883s on your FJ?

Thanks

Re: Toytec Lift Kit installed - not a prob.

SoCalHog, I didn't take any measurements, but I think the 883's lifted the front about 1.5 - 2.0 inches. Here's another pic with the 883's

Rival14, you know your weapons. I had just installed some new trigger components and was trying it out that day. Worked great. Here's a pic of my cheesy rifle rack in the back. Still looking for a locking shotgun mount that doesn't require drilling holes in my dash to mount.

TIFJID, you are so right. It handles great. Not as squishy...less nose dive when braking and less roll in cornering. I need to find some beefy tires next.
